The Explorer reports that "the Town fired a longtime employee after she provided a town council member with a recording of a conversation taped at a cancelled town board meeting."
In the recording, which we made accessible on the blog on May 8, Carter alleges that he cut a deal with Mayor Hiremath to do the Mayor's day job. Click here to listen to KC's remarks. He said what he said and that is that.
The explorer article notes that: "The incident prompted an internal review and a Pima County Sheriff's Department investigation, which later was forwarded to the FBI. The results of that investigation found that no laws were broken."
And so this story ends.
Best to move on.

Zee Man-
I am a little surprised at the title you chose to give this posting as you are usually respectful. I don't think the former town employee would appreciate her termination being referred to this way and I find it very disrespectful considering someone lost their job as a result, albeit indirectly, of something posted on your blog. Just food for thought.
No disrespect intended, Cyclone1. Merely used a euphemism for the word "fired".
She did not lose here job because of something we posted on our blog. She lost here job because the Iron Fists who now run our town want everyone to fall in line.
There was no reason to fire her over this other than to set an example for the rest of the town's employees.
"Behave as we mandate or be gone."
No way to run a business.

I am in complete agreement with your assessment of the situation - I just thought "bites the dust" was a bit callous. Also, while the blog was not the cause, according to the article it was how the powers that be found out about the recording so...that's what I meant by "indirectly".
Something smells in Oro Valley.
The entire Andrews affair.
The last election count
A +3/4 million dollar motorcycle detachment.
Now this recording fiasco.
It is too bad the the FBI declined to investigate the entire Town of OV Government rat's nest. While they are at it, someone should investigate the Golder Ranch Fire and Profit Center budget for gold plating!!
The Nombe.
Another sorry excuse for journalism from the Explorer. How can anyone write such a long article about a public official's actions, and never mention the public official? Everwhere that Jerene Watson's name should have been mentioned, McNamara uses the euphemism "town officials." Her name is not mentioned once in the article! Was she hiding?
And did anyone else notice the irony of KC Carter claiming that Garner was trying to influence an election? What was Carter doing when he was telling a board chair, "We've got to get that dentist elected"?
