Some Responses To Our Love Blog Re: Monitored Comments

Following are a few of the emails we received in response to imposing "monitored comments." We deleted the writer's name as we did not request nor receive permission to post them.

Needless to say, we are very gratified and appreciate those that support our decision and took the time to let us know.

I can appreciate your frustration. You provide a great service to Oro Valley community. I thank you both and would gladly do anything possible so you might continue to keep us all informed.

It's very obvious that a few "sour apples" are trying to intimidate and denigrate others, as well as destroy a very fine means of disseminating news and your good efforts. We applaud you for taking the time to do this!

Art-God Bless you for your loyalty. dedication to truth and for all your time.I, For one, would like to express my gratitude for a job well done.Thank you.

Good policy! Thanks for your work.

Art and Dick,
Mean and small-minded people should not be allowed to use your blog to harm others. There is a real danger of ruining an innocent's reputation. Since anyone can start their own blog or e-mail to their heart's content, this is in no way an infringement of their rights.

What a shame such stuff happens. No good deed goes unpunished, I guess!
Keep up the good work.

Thank you so much for reminding people of the rules and instituting a policy to enforce them. On far too many blogs, honest discussion has been hijacked in favor of irrational screed. I applaud you.

Art, thanks for the work you folks do.

With the implementation of your new policy, I feel free to once again offer my humble, and occasional contributions to the LOVE blog. It has been my observation that many of the antagonists who post here are like the froth on a cup of cappuccino; they layer themselves on top of substance offering little content or flavor. Thank you for your efforts to bring civility back to this community forum.

I agree with fromdatundra and am grateful to the owners of this blog for taking action.

Ideas should be the focus; not chipping (pronounced chi ping, I am spelling challenged).

While I agree that civility is definitely important (and missing from our world these days), it appears that only comments that are in agreement with the blogmasters will be posted. Believe it or not, it is possible to have respectful discussion amongst and between people who disagree! That's what makes the world interesting. Maybe we could all learn more from each other if we were willing to listen to people who have different opinions.

Jay D,

The problem was that some bloggers did not know how to have "respectful discussion." They were only capable of name-calling, ridicule and sarcasm which didn't add anything to the discussions.

I doubt that "only comments that are in agreement with the blogmasters will be posted." For example, OVOT always disagrees with Art, yet for the three years that this blog has been in operation, Art has published 90% of OVOT's comments. You also disagree with Art and he has published your comments. From what I've seen, comments are not deleted because they are in disagreement, but because they are uncivil and sometimes childish.

I agree with your comment, "Maybe we could all learn more from each other if we were willing to listen to people who have different opinions."

Hopefully, the way the blog is now structured, we will get to hear those differing opinions MINUS the taunting.

Sounds good to me!

Jay D--- Those bloggers that understand our basic rules as noted in "Terms of Use" on the left column, may offer their opinion irrespective of whether or not it agrees with us.

Anyone that does not understand, will need to find another forum.

To date,it appears all but one person does in fact understand this.
