Is Eliminating Oro Valley DRB A Smart Move? Council To Consider It Tonight

An item on the OV Council agenda tonight is DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE DIRECTION TO STREAMLINE THE DEVELOPMENT REVIEW AND APPROVAL PROCESS. (See agenda on left column of blog.)

We have to question if eliminating the volunteer DRB is a wise move. What needs to be considered is the fact that elimination will cause OV employees to spend more time hearing from applicants in making their recommendation to the council.

As it is now, the town volunteers hear the applicants, and the council may not even need to be involved if DRB approves their request.

The Council voted 6-0 to direct staff to come back to council the first week of Sept for suggested action, considering Option "C" as the preferred option.

Option "C" would basically disband the DRB and delegate most responsibility to staff.
