Terry Parish Claims To Be A Victim Of Identity Theft

Late last night, specifically at 10:39PM & 11:02PM two comments were made under the name Terry Parish. The comments were listed on our posting Why & How Loomis Wanted David Andrews Removed As Oro Valley Town Manager - Part 2 dated Sept. 27.

The comments made allegations about another person, and upon reading the two comments early morning, I saw fit to remove them both.

Note to our readers--- The above two comments from TERRY PARISH were removed because they were malicious, personal attacks against another person.

Parish, as an officer of the law should certainly know better than to defame another person's reputation for no other reason than vindictiveness.

Parish should also recall that some time ago, during his tenure on the OV Council, I removed comments from this blog that alluded to his personal life.

For him to write what he did here is unconscionable and I believe action from the Sheriff's department may be in order.

My apologies to those readers that may not have seen the comments, as I will not be any more specific.

This evening at 5:01PM the following comment was made, ostensibly by Mr. Parish. (I made no corrections as to grammar & spelling errors)

Art,

Thank you for deleting whatever it is you are talking about. I didn't send anything to this blog. I recieved a call asking me what I had written my reply nothing.

I have been taking care of my kids and sick wife. Frankly I'm too busy.

I have changed my passwords in case someone had figured them out, but whats to stop anyone frome using my name or yours as a pseudonym to post a message.

I would certainly not endanger my job for this blog. This incident illustrates for me how and why blogs can be dangerous.

PS If it has my name attached just delete it because as I said its not me I'm too busy.

Although Terry Parish works for the Pima County Sheriff's Department, I'm sure he would appreciate if any of our readers may be able to assist him in identifying who may have been responsible for perpetrating this dastardly deed.

Many of our readers have gotten to know Parish, either as an ex-council member who lost his re-election bid last year, or by his most recent comments about me---

Terry Parish said...
"Art you keep acting like a little Nazi trying to pacify your friends and silencing your critics."

Perhaps Parish was a victim of identity theft when he referred to me as "acting like a little Nazi."

To Our readers---- I believe most of our readers, with the exception of only a couple, have greater than average intelligence.

Therefore, we will let everyone decide how much credence to put into this last comment by Mr. Parish.

Note to our readers--Following the instructions of Parish, I just deleted a comment posted with his name.

Parish had written---

"PS If it has my name attached just delete it because as I said its not me I'm too busy."

If, in fact, this IS fact, then this Town is even further 'down the river' than I thought. What kind of mentality has evolved here? Of late, it continues to be as divisive and egocentric as ever.

Gertrude Stein once wrote of Oakland, California that " there is no there there". Why had she made this proclamation as she did? In short, she had been away for 30 years and upon her return she found that [just about everything HER Oakland was, had physically and spiritually disappeared], it's 'soul' appearing to have been permanently destroyed.

Is it that, relative to Oro Valley, there is no here here? Is Oro Valley simply becoming a hodgepodge of everything and nothing? 'Everything' because we are simply grasping at straws to put one entity here and one entity there without regard for the 'unintended' consequences, special interests at each others' throats because none really cares to be a viable part of the whole, and the use of vitriolic attack that is seemingly becoming the 'language' of our culture. And 'nothing' because, in the end, if we continue down this unruly path, our 'land' will have become the 'ugly empire' and, in keeping the ragtag mentality of same, our anger will have led to the loss of our humanity? Can it be that soon THERE WILL BE NO HERE HERE?

Recently, I announced to run as a candidate for a seat on the Town Council thinking that I might be able to make a difference. In the past few weeks, the WORST of actions and invective has abounded.
Is Oro Valley simply doomed to fail because to try to make sense of all of this NON SENSE is an exercise in futility? It is said that 'charity begins at home'; I implore that sanity must begin on this blog site!

Let us give Mr. Parish the same respect that any blogger would expect.

It is wrong to write a letter containing false information concerning our former Town Manager.

It is wrong to post a comment on the internet under a "spoofed" (internet slang for pertending to be someone other than yourself)ID.

Mr. Parish does not agree with many who post here. But like the ever wacky Mr. Cox, we need some salt to go with the pepper.

I do not believe we read this blog just to gather information about town politics. We also like to get opinion. And the more diverse the opinion the better the blog.

Maybe I'm missing something, but it would be simple to determine whether it really was Mr. Parish or not who made the offending comments.

Art, all you would need to do would go to the offending comments you deleted, and click on the name "Terry Parish." If the profile is NOT blocked, then it is likely not Terry Parish.

The real Terry Parish has his profile blocked, so other bloggers cannot even see how many profile views he has had.

A note to Terry Parish: If you do not want this to occur in the future, MAKE YOUR PROFILE PUBLIC. That is the whole purpose for having profiles, so others cannot impersonate you on the blog. The host of this website encourages all bloggers to at least have SOME info available on their profiles to avoid this very issue.

Terry Parish, YOU have the power to avoid this in the future.

AZCactus1 said...

Also, a limited profile view, like mine, at least informs other bloggers how long you've been blogging (i.e. April 2007).

If Terry Parish would at least allow this to be displayed on his profile, all bloggers would be able to quickly "weed out" any impersonating comments. ANY such indicators on your profile eliminates impersonations.

AZCactus1---If one goes to Terry Parish Profile, you will see---
"Profile Not Available"

While a devious person---there is at least one that I know of---can use more than one name or pseudonym to post comments, it is doubtful one might have his secret password taken. Furthermore, the user of this "stolen" password would then post comments about another person, that the individual(that claims his password might have been stolen) has readily admitted to making in public forums on previous occasions.

Chances are, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and looks like a duck---it might just be a duck.

Nombe, salt and pepper makes the 'food' a bit more spicy than boring; trash talk makes it garbage and unfortunately there appears much too much of that within some of the postings. I like my food spicy but I refuse to 'eat' garbage.

artmarth said...

Nombe W---- You allude to the fact that "the more diverse the opinion the better the blog."

Please allow me to respectfully disagree. While diverse opinions are welcome, arrogant, nasty comments about me and others, are NOT welcome, and certainly do nothing to make for a "better blog."

There is a wide chasm between opinion and "smear tactics." You can also be sure, as one that has seen what Parish had to say in his offensive comments, that he now attributes to a stolen password was more about smearing another person's reputation with total disregard for the facts.

Do not forget, David Andrews was terminated for exactly the same reasons. No facts, just nasty innuendo and malicious rumor.

We don't like it and we believe any decent person will agree with us. Obviously, Cox & Parish feel otherwise.

There are no bounds to my admiration for the LOVE Blog. As I have stated in this blog and in various public and private conversations; the LOVE Blog provides the best information and insight concerning Ovo Valley issues and politics. It takes time and money to host a website. Again, thanks to the webmaster and all who help keep the blog functioning.

One of the few detractors from the blog is the on-going and now predictable verbal gun fight between the wacky, but vindictive Oro Valley Objective Thinker (OVOT) and artmarth who is described as a well meaning Oro Valley Gadfly by the Tucson Citizen (online).

Here is how a blog thread usually decends:

POST: ORO VALLEY NEEDS A LIQUOR STORE.

VICKY COWGIRL. Yes it does. Burn down WAL-MKT and install a liquor store we can be proud of. Perferably one with lots of high-end wine.

ZEV: Yes, VC, your post is as astute as ever.

Boobie Babe. Well I don't know about that. Why do we need a liquor store? And why wine, can't we have vodka?

T.Parish. A liquor store would just attract the wrong crowd. I don't want my kids drinking expensive wine. Beer for me Beer for my kids.

OVOT. You are all communists!!! Burn down Wal Mkt? Is that your plan Art? Is that the way you do it in NEW YORK CITY?

Artmarth. COX it is YOU who are a communist. Only a commie would be against good wine. Go back to your Thunderbird!

Well dear reader. That is how it goes more often than not. I agree that trash talking and name calling detract from good discourse, and yes in the heat of battle we sometimes get overly caustic, but let us not be baited by the crafty blogger who can manage outcome and get us off of the path. In short, do not let OVOT and T Parish pull you into the pit. If the post is offensive just delete it, and state that it was a bit over the top. I will agree with Zev and Art about the clearly nasty post, but maintain we need salt pepper and diverstiy.

Nombe--- Thanks for the compliment---I think.

You do have a unique way of putting things in perspective.

I for one enjoyed your latest commentary.

Whine, vodka--I don't care.

We're still waiting for Art to let the other shoe drop. He claims that it is innuendo and false. How does he know? Was he physically present? Or was he teletransporting himself to a place and time?

Seriously, I'd like answers to these question.

artmarth said...

boobie-baby--- I thought you got my previous message that I will not get into another discussion with an anonymous person, such as you.

For a few days, you disappeared and now, again you raise the issue of "another shoe."

Until you are man enough to identify yourself either on the blog or to me personally, you will NOT get me to divulge any more than I see fit to divulge.

Knowing you have basic intelligence, I'm sure this message is not too difficult for you to comprehend.

Richard Furash, MBA said...

Nombre....

I am LOL!

boobie-baby said...

MAN enough??? How do you know my gender? Are you teletransporting again?

So, the ONLY reason that you won't release what you claim to be "innuendo" is because of my screen name? Pretty weak excuse, don't you think, bloggers?

So, let the high heel drop, and share the information you have. We--not you--will be the judge.

Are you MAN enough?

I'm sorry, but I truly believe that it was TP who posted the removed comments and then perhaps someone suggested, what he stated was not a "smart" idea. Then he comes up with this "story" about stolen identity. He has made comments before that were inappropriate, so this does not surprise me. From the experiences I have on this blog, if you put your password in incorrectly you can't post. I don't buy it, but that is my opinion.

travelling dancer said...

Now why would you think that?

travelling dancer said...

Oops I'll try again hows that?

AZCactus1 said...

Whoever just impersonated Travelling Dancer: again, it's obvious to spot an impersonator by clicking on the user profile.

The real Travelling Dancer has been a member since May 2008, according to his/her profile.

The impersonating Travelling Dancer who replied above this post has blocked his/her profile. This affirms that it is an impersonation.

It is more likely than not that Terry Parish was not impersonated. He wrote the offending comments himself.

artmarth said...

AZCACTUS1---- You are 100% correct. Somebody----and we know that this "somebody " is too stupid to realize that we know what HE is up to.

Your point is correct about the "blogger profile," but better yet, knowing the identity of "Traveling Dancer," the fool that impersonated this individual didn't have the basic intelligence to know what I know.
Traveling Dancer did NOT have access to any computer at 7:26 or 7:50 PM. There are witnesses to verify that.

Now---who fits the bill of being so stupid, and having the wherewithal and reason to try and get away with that?

Need I say more?
