Art Segal addressed the Oro Valley Town Council this past Wednesday (10-7-09). Art reminded the LACKees (loomis, abbott, carter and kunisch) that the people of Oro Valley will not forget what they did in forcing the resignation of town manager David Andrews... in the "dark of night".
We at LOVE are committed to keeping the heat on these four. Their Council terms are up in June.
Voting them into retirement will be a pleasure!

I could not help but notice the inattentiveness of Council Person Paula Abbott.
Only once did she pick up her head to look at Art.
Was she too busy making notes or was she too ashamed to look Art in the eyes.
Worse than Paula was Carter. He wouldn't look up for a second. That, I expected. What I didn't expect was his outrageous comments directed at Mary Davis, OV Communications Administrator later in the meeting.
Carter was so out of line---and wrong about his statement, that his new best buddy Loomis, had to tell him he was out of order.
We can't afford to have Loomis, Carter, Kunisch & Abbott continuously embarrass our community with their actions.
It's time to "clean house."
Please read my commentary I erroneously posted under the 'below'
post "Dave Perry Knows......."
Zev,
A little off topic, but after reading your misplaced post under "Dave Perry," I just don't understand why, under these economic conditions, anyone would consider spending $10,000 on anything that does not directly affect something of serious consequence. (Pennys add up! $10,000 here, $10,000 there, pretty soon we are talking real money (ironic tone intended, Oro Valley is a Cadillac, of course.)) The current system of pet licensing is adequate; can we not wait until more robust times to effect this study? Besides, we absolutely MUST repaint all of the OVPD cruisers to match the en vogue paint scheme! $10,000 would probably cover two or three! (Seriously, though, I personally do not think that Oro Valley need involve itself in animal issues at all, unless they are of immediate public safety concern, for which we already already have sufficient public safety officers. Ms. Latas' judgement in this regard is a little suspect, to me, but Ms. Abbott's reaction is over the top!)

Thank you for reminding LACK that we will not forget their actions.
LACK may have thought that L' affaire Andrews would just blow over. No way. We will keep reminding the public of this violation. NW
4candiates yet? See 2. My math says you need 2 more.
A wise man once said, "better to keep your mouth shut and thought a fool than to open it up and remove all doubt."
Perhaps KC Carter should follow this advise.
His performance at the recent council meeting leaves much to be desired
1. he likes to use the adjective damn, which shows his lack of vocabulary, and respect for those in attendance
2. he is disrespectful in treatment of staff. Mary Davis , no relation of mine, is due an apology for the way he treated her.
Speakers are told that they must be respectful when addressing council. I think they deserve the same in return.
SHAME, SHAME on HIM.
Christopher,
By their own admission, County Animal Control appeared not to be operating their facility in a reasonable and humane manner at the time when Ms. Latas introduced this item for consideration. In addition, Ms. Latas feels that not only can local control be more humane but it can be more controlled and perhaps be an income producing endeavor for the TOV; thus the study proposal.
AFTER a succinct presentation and subsequent approval of this expense, this issue has been 'picked on' by various entities in order to disturb the original intent and 'filibustered' by one Paula Abbott in a most disoriented manner.
There are MANY issues/causes/non-profits that I feel should not have been allowed to be funded
in this VERY tight economy; but they were and it is too late to be 'changing the course in midstream' and/or cherry picking through those items that were approved. Hopefully our next Council, IN TOTAL, will be conservative in the matter of all around fiscal responsibility and we won't have to go through the agony of dwelling in hindsight.
Deacon--- We hope ALL Oro Valley voters will see the wonderful attributes Mike Zinkin brings to the table. He will make for an outstanding mayor.
Zev needs no introduction. His intelligent, thoughtful insight on so many issues is well documented on this blog.
Deacon, go to your last comment, and "look down." You'll find a very insightful comment right there. Remember the name. You'll be hearing a lot more about Chuck in the days, weeks & months ahead.
That makes THREE. Number four will be introduced here formally in a couple days.
From my standpoint, we NOW HAVE FOUR EXTREMELY OUTSTANDING CANDIDATES.
With the help of the citizens, we will be well on our way to returning Oro Valley back to the people.
We will have leaders that have class, integrity and dignity andknow how to treat others with respect.
These qualities have been sorely LACKing.
Chuck Davis
You remind us that "speakers are told to be respectful when addressing council." Does this apply to everyone with the exception of Art Segal? Shame on him. He is an embarrasment to Oro Valley.
Ganda--- I'm not sure if this is your first comment, but, in any case, thanks for your observation.
I'm sure your view of me is shared by at least three other bloggers, and more than likely, some other residents that believe the actions of Loomis, Carter, Kunish & Abbott were justified.
Keep in mind one thing.
Those four besmirched the reputation of such a fine gentleman---David Andrews, and if you believe I am an embarrassment to Oro Valley, stay tuned.
I'm not finished with those four, and will not be finished until they are removed from office.
I guess it would be asking too much for you to identify yourself, as most people who demean others feel so comfortable hiding behind the veil of secrecy.
Oh! By the way, you comment about me sounds like something I heard come from your mouth before. As such, I'm not surprised to hear it again!
GANDA
I like to hear all view points. Please let me know exactly what your thoughts are regarding Art's presentation to the council. What did he say that was not truthful.
Thank you .... NW
No, Ganda, shame on you for singling out Mr. Segal as "an embarrassment to Oro Valley". What have you done, Ganda, to improve the quality of governance in Oro Valley? What have you done, Ganda, to help alleviate the stress that some on Council have caused the Community? What have you done, Ganda, that provides us with a means to quell our anger towards a dysfunctional group of hypocritical and self serving egoists? Until you can expose what you have done to assist the community in a positive manner, Ganda, until you can claim that you have acted, somehow, some way, in the interests of a peoples' government, then your commentary, Ganda, must be regarded as overly simplistic, based on presumptive bias, and therefor without viable merit.
The MO again is to attack. Chuck Davis said speakers are told to be respectful when addressing council..I question why Art Segal is exempt. Who I am and what I have done for the betterment of the community has nothing to do with it.
We know who you are, hiding behind your pseudonym, and the fact is you've done absolutely NOTHING for Oro Valley Ganda!
You don't like the way I speak the truth. That's just too bad.
Why don't you muster up your few acquaintances and throw a party for your four friends on council celebrating the victory of what they did to David, the staff & the citizens.
GANDA:
I guess you have answered my question. Art attacked. Well I guess he did. He attacked poor management, he attacked poor leadership, he attacked poor governance. He attacked poor financial conservation.
I know, Ganda, you do not support the mismanagement of the LACK group on the council. You care about Oro Valley or you would not read/join the blog. You should come to the side of good government, financial responsibility, smart growth and the preservation of our environment. We will welcome you.
NW
Nombe--- Thanks, but you're wasting your time with this so called Ganda.
"Pig"headed people don't want to change.
Ganda knows what I'm saying.
Believe me, this not the first time Ganda saw fit to attack me.
As usual, the vast majority of our readers know the truth. You won't convince the handful of others to leave the "dark side," so don't even try.
Most every poster to this thread should reflect on your comments. A new poster expressed his/her opinion and was slammed. He was called a "pig" by the biggest pig of Oro Valley.
From Art's post..."Ganda--- I'm not sure if this is your first comment, but, in any case, thanks for your observation." He goes on to say in a later post to admit that he has been "attacked" by Ganda. Art's belief is that to disagree is an attack.
Now here is my opinion.
Art Segal is a complete FRAUD.
Mr. Segal has endorsed five candidates and has turned on each of them. That in itself should tell you something about his intelligence and his ability to judge people.
At some point you are going to se through this transparent parasite.
Don Cox will never get over the fact that I helped defeat him in his quest to get elected twice.
Here again, I'll let our readers judge me vs. him. I need say no more.
Bloggers,
At the risk of sounding overly sentimental, does anyone remember this?
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change",
(perhaps another person's opinion)
"the courage to change the things I can"
(maybe our local leadership?)
" and the wisdom to know the difference".
I've spent the last few years taking care of my husband who has a degenerative brain disease. Since December 2008 I cared for my terminally ill father who passed on August 22, 2009. I learned many lessons during those difficult times.
Priorities.
Name calling or solutions?
Art,
Have you considered asking all the bloggers to post using their true identity?
I would say that in “Art” fashion, the mayor was put on notice of behind the scene collusion as described in past meeting minutes where somehow four council members knew of “issues” not reflected in a month old performance report for David requiring his immediate removal.
I would be accused of being “emotional” myself if I were available to address the council on this issue. Watching our local government twist into the shape Loomis is coordinating, a voice of concern reminding who the council works for was loud and factual, with threatening consequences of their actions.
Conny--- A couple of thoughts, if I may.
First of all, I offer my sympathy for what you have gone through and are going through, as it pertains to your family issues. I wish you the best.
Secondly, I already noted that although we may have had disagreements during and after your service as a Council Member, you and I, and so many other fellow citizens have come together on the one issue in which we ALL agree---the egregious actions of Loomis, Carter, Kunisch & Abbott in the termination of David Andrews.
Finally--- It is obvious that some bloggers prefer to post nasty, arrogant, ignorant comments while hiding behind the veil of secrecy.
To ask these individuals to come out and use their real names would be fruitless. Sooner or later, we do find out their real identities, and they either disappear for a time, or "hit & run." Comment, and then run off and hide.
I know the identity of many of our bloggers that chose to use pseudonyms, and others, I don't.
Either way is fine, because the vast majority are decent people that offer their insight.
All opinions are welcome. Sadly, there are only a couple bloggers that show no sense of decency, and our readers certainly know of who I speak.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

When an unknown comes out of nowhere and SIMPLY calls another, ANYONE, "an embarrassment to Oro Valley" then I will aver that said person has NO CREDENTIAL WHATSOEVER; and that's why I posted what I did. Got something to say - give a little background, a little 'meat' as to the whys of your specificity. There are others who have been less than 'calm' at Council meetings, myself included, and, in fact, from all sides of the "aisle". I prefer civility but passions do flow. Where the line should be drawn absolutely however is that Council SHOULD SET AN EXAMPLE. Yes, I have seen some heated debate even amongst themselves in public meetings; however, the 'dressing down' that Carter bellowed out at a staff employee this Wednesday past was beyond the pale. Carter's belligerence has been more and more evident as of late and his
mental stability, in my mind, has become questionable.
Conny, you have spoken eloquently, with knowledge, and with sensitivity; I hope that your insight can influence the need for balance as we move ahead.
Hopefully, not only should we fulfill our community label as one of being a 'community of excellence', but a 'community of cooperation' as well.
Conny, while your suggestion certainly has merit, I think a long standing internet tradition would have to be overcome before a "true name" blog could be established. One of the oldest jokes of the internet age is the New Yorker Cartoon showing a dog typing on a keyboard. The caption: "on the internet no one knows your a dog"
May I suggest that any blogger who may want to post with a screen name can certaily link an email address to his profile and then if contacted by a fellow blogger, he or she can respond or not. Indeed, some bloggers may not even know much about the profile option on this blog. It is a fun way to let your fellow blogger know your interests outside of the blogosphere. You may remain private or provide details of your life as you see fit. Just a suggestion. NW
Keep em honest Zee Man, Art, Zev, Chris, NW, Chuck, Conny, Victorian Cowgirl, etc.
Abbott, Loomis and Kunish never talked to me. Carter did but ladies will be offended if I repeated it.
To much time in hospitals and my kids can't keep rushing down here. Moving back to Illinois by Christmas.
Deacon--- Although we have never met---at least as far as I know, I'm sorry to hear about your health issues.
We appreciated your voice on the blog---even when we may have disagreed, and your participation will be greatly missed.
Hopefully, you'll continue to share your insight, at least until your eminent departure.
With our best wishes for a great future with your family in Illinois.
Art
Deacon. Sorry to see you go.
I always thought you were one of the rational ones.
Best Wishes. Nombe
