One of the things to watch for as a town grows is an increase in crime. And we've seen it here in Oro Valley. Take a look at these numbers (Source: Explorer). From 2000 through 2002, Oro Valley recorded 147 burlaries, or a rate of 16 burglaries per 10,000 people. In the subsequent five years, there were 548 burglaries, a rate of 26 per 10,000 people.
That us a giant increase no doubt brought on by the grown of Oro Valley.
And, what will the new Wal-Mart bring?
What will the extension of Suntran bus lines (three more are planned for next year. Click here for more. )bring?
Why more crime, of course.

Some of us hate to say " I told you so", but Crime is exactly what the new mall will bring.
If you look at the line up of stores like Wal-Mart trouble will double.
The movie complex could turn into just a hang out for kids with no supervision, again trouble.
If the few restaurants back out, this
mall will be nothing but a junk center.
Finally David Malin of Vestar will get off his high horse and address the peons of Oro Valley.
Anybody like to guess what Malin of Vestar will have to say?
My guess is he will give a short summary to the council telling them that due to the economy, blah blah blabh, Vestar can't possibly
fill the new mall with nice stores, etc.
Really Vestar will just as the kids say "diss us" or blow us off".
Face it Vestar is getting away with taking 23.2 million and giving us practically nothing.

I'm willing to let some dubious claims go by because they're relatively harmless.
But--someone help me here: How does the addition of 3 bus routes to Oro Valley by SunTran contribute to increasing crime?
Are the burglars going to haul off my stuff in a sack and then wait patiently on Oracle Road for a bus to take them (and my DVD player, laptop and big screen TV) back to Tucson?
Where are the statistics (not anecdotes) to back up this claim?
It would seem to me that having reliable, alternative transportation between Oro Valley and Tucson would be a positive development.
Am I missing something here?
