Parish Tells Us Naranja Park Site Is "Cursed"

Council Member Terry Parish is well known as saying ignorant things. Only the other day, an astute blogger had this comment about Parish: "I have read many of your rants (including this one) and, quite frankly, you come off like a monkey at a Mensa convention." (That was concerning EDA's, not the park.)

Now, Parish tells us if the $150 million is not spent on this park, including, an aquatic center and amphitheater the whole project will be "cursed."

Don't believe me? Read it here in the Explorer article.

The approved 48 million-dollar bond to go to Oro Valley voters next fall will add $.28 per hundred of assessed valuation. So that's $840 a year in taxes on your average 300K assessed home! That is NOT for services, folks--it's for some "playgrounds". There are many things we all WANT, it's just that we can't afford them! In 2008, our tax assessments go up 20% anyway, so that's going to really make taxpayers think--I hope!

I'll say this again in case Parish is reading this.

The building of Oro Valley Marketplace and the sales tax dollars it would generate was supposed to "make the Naranja Town Park a reality."

That came from one of Vestar's publicity ads.

So Mr. Parish, why do we need a property tax to fund this park when Vestar's "Great Mall of China" was supposed to fund this park?

I can not keep silent any longer, if Mr. Parrish wants the truth, well here it comes! I apologize if this sounds like more ‘name calling’, but enough is enough! At most of the Town Council meetings I’ve attended including the November 5, 2007 meeting on the Bond Issue for the Naranja Town Site, Mr. Parrish was very disrespectful to the Council and others in attendance. Whenever a comment was made by the Council or the Public that he didn’t totally agree with, he makes faces, rolls his eyes or just decides to take a ‘break’ and walks out of the chambers. Mr. Parrish wanted the whole enchilada ($150+ million), and since he didn’t get his way, he pouts. He pouts and squirms and sighs like a little boy stuck in Church. You are only calling the Naranja Park cursed because; again, you didn’t get your way. It will be interesting to see if he learns how to control this before January when the Council will be on live video for all of us citizens. Then, sir you will be on “Candid Camera”.
This is not the first time, nor as I am sure the last, that he has been rude. He calls concerned citizens CAVE people. When a concerned citizen brought up the issue of the money used to ‘educate’ us on the Naranja Town Site, instead of explaining the reasoning behind the program, He went off on one of his rants and tried to make it look like the person accused the Council of doing something illegal. I never heard anyone accusing the Council of illegal activities. Mr. Parrish, “Methinks thou doth protest too much.” You are very unprofessional and do not deserve to be on the board. You lost my vote!!
Mr. Parrish, I hope you will grow up and don’t give up your day job.
