Editorial Praises Salette Latas
We thought you would find the following items from this week's "Explorer" interesting:
Emil Franzi, writing his "Inside Track" editorial says: "Oro Valley needs the fresh blood the Latas family brings", writing of Salette Latas' announced candidacy for Town Council. Read it here.
Four Letters To The Editor commenting on the Crematorium. One writer can't see what the big deal is. She's a realtor. She says: "I have never had ANYONE ask “Is there a crematorium in the neighborhood?”" Really, now, who would think to ask. That's why, when an Funeral Home was announced, no one much cared. There was never mention of the creamtorium. And that is the crux of the problem. Read it here.

Because no one cares if there is a funeral home or a crematorium in the area. This entire issue has been blown completely out of proportion and those who wish to continue to beat this horse are not serving any useful purpose. A professor of mine once said, "When the horse is dead, it is best to stop beating it."
Funeral homes prepare the deceased for their final resting whether it be in a coffin and burial or cremation and burial. Let's put this issue to rest also.
Actually a lot of people do care OV Objective thinker. From What I have read the group had collected 4 or 5 hundred signatures. That's a lot of nobody's!!
I did not sign the petition, but would do so if asked.

The guy who purchased this property had to expect that residents would not thrilled with the creamatorium
I doubt anyody would object to just a funeral home.
You are correct, OV Objective Thinker, in your definition of funeral home...a place to PREPARE the dead body for burial or cremation. What you fail to acknowledge is that PREPARE does NOT mean BURY or CREMATE.
What I think is really sad is the fact that this realtor,Donna Reed, thinks the issue is funny.
What agency is she working for?
Hopefully Rancho Vistoso residents either boycott her agency or never never list with her.
I know I would avoid her.

VICTORIA -- When Ted Burowett and his wife moved into a new neighbourhood last November, they couldn't figure out what the ash was that kept falling on their back deck. It turned out to be exhaust from the crematorium behind their house.
"It was getting blacker and blacker," Mr. Burowett said. He and his wife washed down the deck, but the ash was back the next day.
Down the quiet street in Saanich district, Joe Tanner regularly finds his car and his black Labrador dog covered in white, greasy ash.
DONNA REED: SEEMS THESE PEOPLE COULD HAVE SAVED A LOT OF HEARTACHE IF THEIR REALTOR HAD TOLD THEM THERE WAS A CREMATORIUM IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD!
