There's a lot of conversation, pro and con, around the Town's plans for the Naranja Town Site. It's a big bullet for the town to bite off. With lots of recreational goodies.
-A skate park
-A pet training ara
-A pet walking area
-A BMX racing track
-Basketball courts
-Tennis courts
-Festival center
-Community center
-Aquatic center
-(Even more) soccer fields
-Many tennis courts
-And, finally, some softball fields that the Art and Zeeman can use so we don't have to travel all over Tucson to play Senior Softball!!!
It's a big project: $156 Million, most of which is going to be spent on facilities like the aquatic center and community center.
Whether you are for or against it, it would be good for you to become familiar with the site plans. What do you think?

Maybe she does not realize the extent of what is going on because she is not home all day, but out working.
She says nobody has ever asked her if there is a funeral home or creamatorim in the neighborhood, probably because most people would not expect one in a so called residental planned community.
Also she thinks this situation is funny, what the heck is funny about residents being concerned with what goes on in their backyards, I want neighbors like that.
As a realtor, she should be telling her clients what is in the neighborhood, good and bad, that is part of her job!

What bus will one take to get to Naranja Theme Park so we working folks and struggling retired can gnaw on the steak-bones the rich people throw away after their catered picnics?
Translation: Can we afford this extravaganza...at this, or any time in the immediate future?
A correspondent who says she went to the recent dog and pony show at Town Hall tells us that the planners/promoters are talking about paying for its inception with a $150,000 to $200,000 bond issue and as much as $5-million a year to maintain this playground.
What is the “Theme” people keep talking about for Naranja Theme Park? “The Life and Times of Ken Lay” might be appropriate. Jeff Skilling will probably be out on parole by the time it’s finished and be available for the dedication of “Enron Park.”

Ok this park sounds wonderful. But who is footing the bill? Maybe Wal-Mart can own, run and operate the whole complex!
I would love to live the lifestyle of the rich and famous, but I can only afford what my finances dictate.
Maybe the town should realize that the residents are not money tree's.

Regarding the Naranja Town Site...
I do not believe we need an aquatic center at the park. It is grossly expensive and a huge potential liability for the Town. When I asked why we were including that in the plans I was told by a reliable source from within the Town that it was to be utilized for "fun" since the pool at Jim Kreig Park was primarily designed for competition. We have about 10000 pools in the Oro Valley area, privately owned, that are designed for "fun". Get to know your neighbor if you don't have one and have some "fun" Join El Conquistador as a sport member and hop into their pool.
I also question the cost figures that are being tossed around. The original cost for the park (in 2000/2001)was in the area of $55 million. Construction costs have not tripled since then. Something just isn't right.
Overall however, this park is a great addition to the community. However we must build a facility that will meet the NEEDS (not wants) of the community and be able to generate enough revenue to offset at least 75% of the operating costs. This is one project I think we can all agree on and support.
