Nicolson soundly defeated incumbents Snider, Waters and Hornat, earning, by count, sufficient votes for election in this primary.

The formula for council victory is, as we recall, based on a candidate earning more than 50% of the total votes cast for council for the three seats. There were 37,861 such votes which equates to 12,620 per seat. 51% of that is 6,436. Each of the challengers earned far more than that.

Only Mary Snider appears to be in a challenging position and even she is 1,300 votes less than the lowest vote gathering challenger.

We do not know the number of votes that are left to be counted; however, it would have to be substantial in order for there to be any change in these results.

The vote as we have it form the Pima County Election Center:

Stay tuned.
