Some of the less significant items from this Wednesday's Oro Valley Town Council meeting:
  • The town's new contract attorney is Kelley Schwab.  She will be at all town council meetings.
  • The town will hold a Lambert Lane ribbon cutting ceremony later this month.
  • The Oro Valley Police Department's School Resource Officer ("SRO") program has been formally recognize as Arizona's model SRO program.
  • A company conducting estate sales in the town provided a sign petition to allow them to display signs directing people to these sales.   Council directed town staff to meet with these individual to discuss the town's sign codes.
  • The council unanimously approved a request to approve a renovation of art at the Oro Valley Medical Office Building (Tangerine and Innovation Park Drive)

RV Sales At Oro Valley Marketplace Will Require Council Approval

"Vestar will be required to receive Council approval prior to any future RV sales at the Oro Valley Market Place. Therefore, should Vestar request a sales event, we will place this item on Council’s agenda for consideration " (Source: Email from Town Manager Greg Caton)

Looks like the town read our previous postings on these sales.  Thanks to our bloggers who follow up with the town on this. You won.

From one of our readers: ""It's good to be the county administrator of Alameda County, Calif. (on San Francisco Bay, south of Oakland). The San Francisco Chronicle revealed in March that somehow, Susan Muranishi negotiated a contract that pays her $301,000 a year, plus "equity pay" of $24,000 a year so that she makes at least 10 percent more than the next highest paid official, plus "longevity" pay of $54,000 a year, plus a car allowance -- and that she will be paid that total amount per year as her pension for life (in addition to a private pension of $46,000 a year that the county purchased for her). " (Source)

Is this what happens when the residents of a community don't pay attention to what is happening to their time?

Maybe we should start a blog there.

Vista Highlights

The summer issue of the town's publication, Oro Valley Vista, is available online. It includes an announcement of a 4-year water meter replacement plan.  The new meters transmit water readings direct to the utility. This eliminates the water meter reader's job.  It also announces this fall's Oro Valley Police Academy, which will meet every Tuesday from 6-9PM starting September 3, 2013 and ending November 19, 2013 Time: 6 – 9 p.m.

I would encourage folks to sign up for the Police Academy. It is a great way to meet many of the officers working in the department and to learn just exactly what they do on a day-to-day basis. It is an investment of time but well worth it.
