Certainly it is not a surprise that Linen 'n Things is the latest retailer to pull out of Vestar's Marketplace.
Before we know it, the place will be one giant vacant lot surrounded by Wal-Mart, a movie, a couple of restaurants, two shoe stores, and some cheap women's clothing.
Read why Linen 'n Things is "out of here."

Linens & Things is definitely off the OVM roster. On June 18th, the list of OVM stores still included L&T. On August 1st, L&T was no longer shown on the list.
As of June 18th, Michael's, Staples, Beverages and More, and BJ's Restaurant were also absent from the list.
Since LNT went Chapter 11 this is expected; the writing was on the wall. Besides; who wants to compete with Wally Mart??
Now the economy has gone bust, gas prices are high, people are spending less and staying home. Corporations aren't expanding; they are just trying to stay afloat.
Notice how many more store fronts in town are empty??
Unfortunately, Vestar will probably dig to the bottom of the barrel to fill up the vacant real estate.
It's a shame what has been done to the land and view; would have made a nice park with fields easily accessible...

Because of the economy being so bad, Vestar has will probably use that as an excuse for not keeping the promise
of that nice mall for 23.2 million
Picture this . Nice OV shopper goes to the new mall and asks the location of Danny's Gourmet Market.
Imagine the look of surprise when they find out it is a gas pump with
a store selling packaged sandwiches &
other convenience items.
Loops I forgot, everybody has a different definition of gourmet. hehe
To the OV Town Gov. apparently Wally Mart (WM) is upscale!
Mscoyote is right on, I can't wait for Danny's
At least WM has good prices on ammo!

It was apparant to me that immediately upon learning that L&T had filed for Chapter 11 in bankruptcy proceedings, I wrote on this site that [to expect that L&N would or could be able to honor it's commitment to OVM was highly unlikely]. At that revelation, Terry Parish who was yet in the running for councilperson and who was participating on this site, stated that [he had personally spoken with the 'powers' at OVM and that in all probability, L&N was still a viable tenant]. This was a typical instance of a developer failing to admit the potential ramifications of such a bankruptcy and a candidate who failed to learn what is entailed in said proceeding. The minute L&N filed for chpter 11 relief, protection while in process of reorganization, they no longer had control over their company; another company (financial) was granted 'custody' and the Court was to have it's say in every nook and cranny. So, this last outcome does not surprise me. After having slimed it's way into the hearts of some of the OV residents, Vestar has shown that it's an incompetent and a we-don't-give-a- damn company. I believe you can also thank Vistoso Partners for their 'help' in assuring this shoo-in venture.
This is another reason to vote down the Naranja Town Site; as it's developing WE DON'T NEED 2 PLAYGROUNDS FOR THE CHILDREN and watch out, it's beginning to look like Walmart may be the UPSCALE retailer for the Marketplace - YEECH!
