Hornat's Emnity Toward Town Attorney Rosen Is Puzzling. Hornat's Reprehensible Behavior Is Troubling.

---

Council Member Joe Hornat wants to rid of the town of the services of Town Attorney Tobin Rosen.  He made that quite clear at last week's council meeting.   View the video of of his discussion of Tobin Rosen's retirement as Town Attorney for Oro Valley  Clearly, this is personal.

Imagine, if you will, telling your employer that you plan to retire. Then, having that employer tell you to pack you things and leave.  Essentially, that is what the four on Council did.

One wonders: Why?  Why treat Attorney Rosen in this manner?  Why give him the "bums rush" under the guise that its good management policy to remove people from their job when they announce their retirement.  This is not a "best practice" in management. This is simply thuggery.

The harshness and the lack of sensitivity that Council Member Hornat demonstrated toward Attorney Rosen was astounding.  It is yet another example of why Oro Valley needs a code of conduct.

Council Member Hornat's behavior is reprehensible.  The tenor of his remarks and his dismissiveness of Attorney Rosen is insulting to the residents of this community. We expect a higher standard of behavior from anyone who represents the Town or Oro Valley.

At the end of the meeting, Hornat  just couldn't leave "well enough alone." They had, after all, already relieved Tobin of his job.  Still, Hornate requested that Tobin's employment situation be on a future agenda.  Council Member Hornat is "like a dog with a bone."  He just won't give it up.

One wonders: What makes someone who was elected by the citizens of Oro Valley think that this type of behavior is acceptable?

One wonders: Why are they after Tobin?

This is appalling! And a similar performance of his attack on Ainsley L about the Aquatic Center. Chicago thuggery at its worst. Does the town offer any anger management classes?

Faveaunts is right. Something is going on and, as usual, the OV citizens are in the dark.

Reminds me of the bad old days of l'affair Andrews.
(no pun intended)

During my career as a management consultant I worked with hundreds of companies in size from millions to billions of dollars (these were private industry, government agencies, and non-profits).

In all of those companies, there was a management retirement policy. In all of those companies I never heard of a policy that stated once a person stated his intention to retire (whether it was a year, quarter, month, or any time period from now) that the person was summarily shown the “door” the day he or she announced their intention to retire.
I believe Mr. Rosen stated his intention to retire. Many people choose to retire when they are eligible for private or public pension benefits.

Joe talks about retirement being a “management issue”. He kept talking in the council meeting about Tobin Rosen’s resignation rather than his retirement.

Evidently, Joe’s work experience was that once a person announced his or her retirement at some time in the future they were shown the door as soon as possible.

Simply Sad!

Mr. Hornat requested this be continued at a future Council Meeting. He also stated that Mr. Rosen could have this discussion in private or public.

It is interesting that the topic is not on the Agenda. Perhaps, the mayor and other two disagreeable council members did not want the truth to be revealed.

It does make you wonder why these members were so upset with Mr. Rosen.
