Completion Of CDO Bike Trail By Early 2014

---
One of the great recreation trails in Oro Valley is the CDO wash bike trail. The trail extends from LaCanada to the Oro Valley Marketplace. It is a marvel for pedestrians and bike riders. The problem is: It is not fully paved.

There is a section of the trail that goes from the Fry's Center (Rooney Ranch) to Steam Pump Ranch the is unpaved. I spoke at the Council meeting last week, offering that completing this trail would add great value to the biking trails of Oro Valley.

Completion of this trail is scheduled for late 2013 or early 2014.

Completing it requires building a bridge over the wash in back of Steam Pump Ranch, then paving the remaining bikeway to complete the job. The cost is approximately $1.4 million.  The Town will not have an actual calculated cost until the bidding process occurs. Funding for the project will come from the Regional Transportation Authority and the Federal Government.

Though it is over a year away, we're excited about this trail's completion.  It will enable one to ride a full loop from LaCanada at the CDO wash, to the Oro Valley Marketplace, to Tangerine and then back down La Canada.    Or,  you could even do it in reverse!

Now, what Oro Valley needs its its own "El Tour de Oro Valley" bicycle event.  What fun that would be!
