Oro Valley Council Meeting Preview

---
As usual, Mayor Hiremath has a jam-packed agenda.  Lots of items on the consent agenda.  First meeting in three months of the council.  That's a long time with no publicly visible governance.

We've previously commented on the unusually long length of the Mayor's meetings.  We noted that more frequent, shorter meetings are required to ensure that the Council is making sound decisions with fresh minds; and to insure that residents can attend full meetings.  These are open meetings.

It will be interesting to see how long this one runs!

Here are some of the items.
  • MTCVB will unveil the logo for the Aquatic Center.  From Misti Nowak: "... the Town didn't pay anything for this branding process. This type of service from MTCVB/Tucson Sports is one of the perks of our financial participation agreement." (Presentation Item 3)
  • Consent Agenda Items include:
    • A report on Fiscal 2011-2012 final budget results
    • TREO and MTCVB Quarterly Reports
    • Resolutions regarding police funding
  • Public hearings on design review changes and changes in the sign code fine.  This latter one will likely go down in flames since even the Oro Valley Development and Infrastructure Department employees who asked Council Members Zinkin and Garner to sponsor the changes don't support it.  Looks to us like these Council Members were "hung out to dry."  This is a lesson learned.
Live video of the meeting will be available on the Oro Valley town web site.
