Lies They Are Telling.. Simply Lies...

---
There are two lies that are circulating among the Oro Valley Police Department and its auxiliary force. These are lies calculated to keep the men and women who protect us, the rank and file, from voting for  Oro Valley Town Council candidates who actually care about them.

Here are the two lies:

"Mike Zinkin plans to outsource the Oro Valley Police Department."

"Mark Napier is going to severely cut the Police Department and take away all the take home cars."

Both of these are lies.  Lies, I tell you.

I have spoken at length with both Mike and Mark.  At no time has either one ever said that they would do what is claimed.  The only position Mike has spoken of is that he believes that the town should undertake a management study of the Police Department, as it has done for most other departments.  Mark has stated to me and at the two forums that he is not opposed to a management study if it can be demonstrated that there is a need for such.  Both of these positions are, to me, quite reasonable.

Neither Mike nor Mark ever made the statements above.

So, you ask, who is spreading these rumors?  Could it be Solomon?  Could it be Nacaroti? Could it be their alter-egos, Council Member Mary Snider and Council Member Joe Hornat?  Would these people stoop so low as to lie in order to be elected or,  in Snider and Hornat's case, get their candidates elected?

Of what are they so afraid?  Why are they so desperate?

As I see it, the truth about "their" candidates won't get them elected. Furthermore, when the truth about the Gang of Five becomes more and more evident, their time in office will grow shorter and shorter.

See.

The take home car give away is SO critical to the police that it has become a "wedge" issue.

Cut the number of take home vehicles today.

Cut them today and remove the fear and loathing.

What would a study of the OVPD show?

Without a doubt, the answer can be found in the Berkshires Advisors Consulting Firm's report of May 2011 for the city of Phoenix Az.This report provides information related to the transmittal of the Innovation and Efficiency Studies for the Phoenix Police Department.

http://phoenix.gov/webcms/groups/internet/@inter/@citygov/@efficiency/documents/web_content/058341.pdf

Other than the Phx PD being so much larger than the OVPD, the deficiencies found in Phx are a mirror image to those here in Oro Valley.

The report found, for example that the least cost effective work shift in Phx is the 10 hour shift.

Why?

Because, it requires THREE SHIFTS/day inasmuch as there re 24 hours to a day.

What does that mean?

It means, that every day, the police department has cops working for 30 hours---which means six hours of overlap (double shifts) and six hours the city pays the cops overtime.

OVPD Chief Sharp insists that our police force work this same 10 hour shift. This is costing the taxpayers more than is necessary.

The study also found, the Phx PD has up to 3 police vehicles responding to many calls, that require only one vehicle.

How many times have you seen two or more cops (cars and/or motorcycles) on the scene for a simple traffic violation?

And let's not forget, the chief in OV decides who and how any cops get to take home their vehicles at the expense of taxpayers, regardless of where in southern Az they may reside.

There's so much more in the Phx report.

Is it any wonder, there are those among us, including the super town council majority of Solomon, Hiremath, Snider, Hornat & Waters that refuse to allow a police study.

Please read, or a least go through the Berkshire report, and decide for yourself.Should there be a study done on the OVPD?

An unbiased person would respond: Without a doubt!

Lies work with the uninformed and their are many uninformed in OV.

Why lie? To win the spoils (kickbbacks -- free meals, congtributions to election funds, gas remuneration @ 51 cents a mile (no wonder Council person Hornat is at all occasions), and the joy of the exalted position.

Why are we paying for the Posse Patrol? Today at about 8:30 a.m. a Posse car let a Posse Patrol person out at Sprout's door.....was this for coffee?? I resent paying for the gas for the Posse Patrol and maintenance on their cars.

Fear is a big part of Solomon's agenda--the Police like him and he likes the Police. OK but let us not be a "police town".

somePlease let us do a study of the Police Department budget.
