Michael Carlier of Carlier and Company and Venture West now run Oro Valley.
" I hope that you can attend the meeting Venture West has established on January 12th at 6pm in the Council Chambers."
This quote is from an email Carlier sent one of the residents of Neighborhood 7; a resident who opposes a PAD Amendment to allow apartments on parcel 7-i.
Can anyone set up a meeting to use town council chambers?
There is little doubt that the Oro Valley Economic Development Department ("Planning and Zoning Department"), the Mayor, and Council Members Waters, Hornat, Snider and appointed Council Member and now 2012 council candidate Solomon are giving Carlier and Venture West every opportunity to subvert the will of the people.
First. they allow an unprecedented delay in a public hearing before council on Parcel F-1. Then, they continually question Town Council Rosen about other ways to approve this PAD amendment without a super majority requirement. At meetings, they allow developers to talk for hours about what is intended to be built when there is no such decision to be made.
Yes. We do not trust this council.
Nor do the people.

Another reason to believe the majority of this council does NOT care about the residents of Oro Valley.
I just received my fourth Quarter Rancho Vistoso Community News Letter.
There is an open letter to the neighbors near parcel 7-I from Venture West 12/8/2011.
Look at the first 3 sentences of the third paragraph: “The 60 day extension we later requested and were granted is for the sole purpose of preparing our best presentation to all concerned homeowners. We have set the time and date of this meeting. It will be on Thursday, January 12, at 600PM at the Oro Valley Town Council Chambers, located at 11000 N. La Canada Drive.
NOTE:
Missing from the open letter was the fact that the town video shows that the applicant was asked if they wanted a 60 day extension and the answer was NO. The video also shows that the Town Council continued this item from consideration on November 16, 2011 until the Town Council meeting on January 18, 2012.
Missing from the open letter was the fact that Venture West used that time period delay set by the Town Council to go door to door in the neighborhoods to ask people to rescind their opposition. They also contacted one of the leaders of the opposition via email to meet to discuss the issues ONE-ON-ONE.
On the last page of the Newsletter is a short blurb on “Rancho Vistoso Parcel 7-I Apartment Proposal”.
Concentrate on the first sentence of the second paragraph: “The application will be considered by the Oro Valley Town Council on January 12, 2012 in Council Chambers”, 11000 N. La Canada Drive.”
NOTE:
The Town Council specifically stated that the application would be considered on January 18, 2012. How can Venture West make that statement?
The Town of Oro Valley was closed on Monday, January 2, 2012. I went to the Official Town Web Site Visitors Tab and looked at the Town Calendar and didn’t see anything scheduled on January 12, 2012. I also went to the Town Web Site Online Services Tab and looked at Upcoming Meetings and didn’t see anything about a January 12, 2012 scheduled meeting for Town Council.

The open letter from Venture West states that we don't have to worry about overcrowding at Painted Sky Elementary because they will bus the apt residents' children to Copper Creek Elementary. I wonder how Copper Creek parents will feel about that. Copper Creek Elementary is located in a residential neighborhood, much more so than Painted Sky. Are they going to be okay with the added traffic? The letter also states that the children would be picked up from the apt's "entry point on Tangerine". Has ADOT approved that or are they thinking they'll have a bus stop on Tangerine near the intersection?

Hello Kat,
You are quite correct.
It is simply yet another "promise" that is ill-conceived.
Remember, Kat, the Developer can say anything they want. They are not bound by their statements.
The Bottom Line: Consider them to be politicians. They will say and do anything for your vote. Then, when they get in, they will do whatever pleases them. In the end, the quality of your life in Oro Valley will diminish while the thickness of their wallets will increase.
