Guest View- John Musolf: "Support Dispose-A-Med Oro Valley"

---
I recently went to the Target Store in the Rooney Ranch Shopping Center. However, it was not to shop but to drop off some expired prescriptions and a half gallon bottle of diabetic test strips and lancets (hazardous waste) since I am diabetic and need to test my blood sugars frequently.

The Oro Valley Police Department has an excellent program for Oro Valley citizens to drop off medications anonymously and free. Many other organizations participate in this endeavor with the police department including the Optimist Club local, national and international.

All of the pills and labels are incinerated with the help of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). The empty bottles are donated to the Humane Society and Pima County Animal Center.

You can even have your blood pressure checked!

For more information contact the OVPD Community Resource Unit at 520-229-5080 for the dates and times of collections.

This is an excellent community service!

John......Thank you for using the Dispose-A-Med program and a bigger thank you for speaking so positively about it.

The Oro Valley Dispose-A-Med program, sponsored by the Oro Valley Optimist Clun in conjunction with the Oro Valley Police Department has been in effect for about 24 months and to date we have recovered a little over 1,400,000 pills that won't make it into our groundwater supply or into a toddlers tummy or a wayward teens stomach. Our next event will be October 29th, 10 AM - 2 PM at the same Target location. Please come by even if it is just to see it.
