The Az Star reports on the speech loomis gave to the Northern Pima County Chamber of Commerce on Sept 29.
PLEASE BE SURE TO CLICK ON KOLD VIDEO. (below) Hear loomis for yourself----if you have the stomach to do so.
What loomis didn't say during his "State of the Town" talk is that just a few days earlier, he (loomis) and his 3 stooges, carter, kunisch & abbott, (small letters for small people) forced our beloved Town Manager David Andrews out after his 18 years of dedicated service to out community.
David's name was never mentioned. Instead loomis saw fit to commend our assistant manager Jerene Watson, who is now in the unenviable position of trying to fill David's shoes---an impossible task.
What did loomis mention? He mentioned that an Oro Valley Property Tax may be necessary.
Why? loomis gives reasons, but negated to say, that he and his 3 stooges recently raided our contingency fund, partially to placate the police unions so these "special people" wouldn't give up even one job in a cutback David Andrews knew was required.
These fools also saw fit to give tens of thousand of dollars to the likes of this NPCCC and others, and now loomis has the unmitigated gall to say publicly, we may need a property tax.
These fools saw fit to force David Andrews' resignation, costing the town a needless $145,000.
Had loomis not taken an unnecessary trip to Europe recently, at taxpayers expense, we'd have an additional $11,000 in funds.
loomis and two of his new best friends, carter & abbottt are in New Mexico as we speak. Why is it necessary for three of them to show up for a TREO meeting? (Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities----another major recipient of OUR tax dollars)
LOOMIS MUST GO!

I am a new blogger, my name is Chuck Davis. I have been angered by many of the actions of this council, and I am not going to be silent any longer.
While the severence package that Andrew's is receiving is costly, it is only the beginning of expenses related to this poor decision. David had 19 years of experience and as a result of his knowledge he saves us considerable money. You also need to add the cost to recruit a new town manager to this cost.
Poor decision, very costly in a year when we are having difficulty balancing the budget. Additionally, I have not heard any justification for this decision.
HOW SAD FOR DAVID AND OUR COMMUNITY.
If LACK gets a property tax what will they do with the money?
Hire more police?
Hi Chuck--- Welcome to our blog. We appreciate your insight.
This community needs folks that exhibit MORE COMMON SENSE and LESS VINDICTIVENESS.
You can rest assured loomis, carter, kunisch & abbott never considered the ramifications of David's termination on the employees and the citizens.
Sure, the have the right to FIRE WITHOUT CAUSE, which they did, but did they think about the ramications, some of which you so astutely noted?
Hell no! Vindictiveness Prevailed!
Conny,
Please go back to "Why and How...Part I" where I have left another message for you.
Nombe,
Great insight connecting the property tax to the OVPD. We've already read that their budget is equal to all the other department budgets combined. I wonder if that's true for other towns of our size.
Having not analyzed the OV town budget, I can't say for certain, but it has been mentioned in the media that 50% of the town budget is allocated for the Oro Valley Police Dept.
If this is indeed true, OV lacks the immediate need for a separate property tax. OV needs to elect new leadership with different priorities.
Reducing the OVPD budget allocation (even slightly) would free revenue for reallocation into different areas of the budget (i.e. to maintain parks, recreational paths, roads, landscaping, etc.)
LACK is being disingenuous if they support a measure to put an OV property tax on the ballot.
OVPD takes a lion's share of the town revenue. In challenging economic times, citizens do not need to have tax INCREASES; citizens need their local government to tighten the purse strings, make responsible budgetary reductions, and keep in place the infrastructure necessary to efficiently operate once again after the economic downturn passes.
Lastly, Loomis' recent statements regarding property taxes only further highlights his shortcomings as an elected official.
Why, Mayor Loomis, are property taxes so essential to the functioning of Oro Valley now, when only a short time ago you voted for a tax giveaway to Vestar in excess of $23M for the OV Marketplace? A tax dollar is a tax dollar, and Loomis' actions have made clear his preference to raid the wallets of residents, rather than disappoint Phoenix-based retail developers.
A change in leadership is sorely required.
Lower taxes and smaller government.
Any candidate that shares that goal is someone I would like to talk with.
Dan---- One minor correction, if I may. Those of us that have attending council meetings for some time know exactly how shrewd & cunning loomis is.
As such, as it concerns that stupid $23.2M giveaway to Vestar, loomis did NOT vote for it. Why? Because he knew he had his 3 stooges at that time----(he always manages to get 3) to vote it in. That way, loomis says----Don't blame me. I didn't vote for it.
For those folks that don't know who they got, I'll be doing my best to let them know. LOOMIS IS A LOSER!
We MUST VOTE LOOMIS OUT!
Art,
I appreciate the correction. I was unaware of his vote on the specific issue. However, I do remember Loomis being in full favor of the OV Marketplace despite the controversy surrounding the project. That was the basis of my prior post.
The Loomis campaign if off to a very shakey start. This guy can un-elect himself!
Deacon---- We MUST do all we can to help loomis--- UNELECT HIMSELF!!!
Keep up the good work, Art!
AzVicki---Thanks for the encouragement.
I believe there are 1000's of other like minded citizens that share my basic values that the first priority of our elected officials must be the citizens that they were elected to serve.
Bill, Barry & Salette fully understand that simple credo.
Mike Zinkin & Zev Cywan, likewise have that same basic integrity and understand the needs of the citizens.
Connie, that's me - lower taxes and smaller government! I have seen that kind of achievement, know that it IS viable, and, as a recently announced candidate for Council, when elected, I would adamantly strive for same.
Zev,
Thank you for clearly stating your position!
Art,
Do you really think Loomis is going to need help "un-electing" (is that a word?) himself? He seems to be doing a fine job so far!
Conny--- Let me rephrase it.
WE MUST DO WHATEVER IS NECESSARY TO GET RID OF LOOMIS --- along with any of his 3 stooges that think they can get reelected.
NOTHING----and I mean NOTHING you ever did in your 2 year term was close to being as egregious as what these four have done to such a fine person as David Andrews.
David has the respect of most everyone in & out of OV Town Hall.
The employees can't say what they think of Loomis----but it "ain't" pretty.
He thinks he can control things as he has for the past 10 years. He's in for a rude awakening.
The citizens who didn't know him, know him know---and that is why Loomis is "unelectable."
MIKE ZINKIN FOR MAYOR!!!
I have lived in this town for only 5 years and do not pretend to have a firm grasp on all the issues we face here, but I do have a keen sense of smell and something is stinking here in Oro Valley!
It does not matter which side of David Andrews you fall on. The fact is we have just loaded $145,000 of OUR money into a wheelbarrow and dumped it into the nearest sewer!
The man passed his evaluation by council and was apparently doing productive work for this town.
I would like to know what we as taxpayers received in return for 145 grand! It appears that LARRY,MOE AND CURLY on the council spent OUR money so they could get a productive, decent man the hell out their hair! Does that make sense to you?
Now don't get me wrong! I love to watch the three stooges on television, but I don't want them running my damn town!
If "BOSS HOG" Loomis thinks that he is going to strap us with a property tax so he can continue to take lavish $10,000 trips to Europe on our dime he is crazy as hell!
Just remember folks that the power to make the changes we need is TOTALLY up to you and property taxes can only be levied if WE APPROVE THEM at the ballot box per state law and I would hope that we say NO MORE FREE RIDE!
KUNISH,CARTER AND ABBOTT MUST GO!
DUMP LOOMIS NOW!!!!!
Well said David. The voters will determine if we will have a property tax.
The voters will determine if we will continue to put up with Loomis and his antics.
If need be, I'll take a property tax, but, please, no more Loomis!
Neither is needed or wanted.
Say "NO" to a property tax, but more important, say "NO" to Loomis.
Please vote for MIKE ZINKIN!
