Actually, both McNamara and ZeeMan got it wrong. The current code is not 10 p.m.; it's one hour after closing. The item on the agenda for last week was to consider changing the lights-out time to 10 p.m. or close of business, whichever is sooner. That change failed. So businesses must turn out their wall lights one hour after closing, as they have been required to do since 2003.
Just one more anti-business vote from the idiots, yes, I said idiots, that don't seem to realize where 14 million dollars comes from. I think the three of them should be recalled starting with Garner.
Art...See my posting to Zeeman. Your complete and total ignorance comes through every time address the keyboard. Get back into your cave.
Nombe.....A bit of both, I guess. Although trust me when I say that I truly believe Garner should be removed and that the triad are idiots. This community would be far better off without them. When is comes to creating a mutually beneficial atmosphere where business and the community can work together, they don't have a clue. Gillaspie has been fighting business for years, Latas runs around telling folks to not shop at OVM and thinks we should take on animal control and Garner doesn't understand the first thing about how a business operates.
If you think that all-night lighted signage is not a problem for residents (let alone the scientific community) would you be willing to sell your house and move to another house that is adjacent to an all-night lighted sign? Why don't you move to Catalina Shadows where you can look at the lights from OVM to your heart's content and where you can look out your window every night before bedtime and pray to the Great God of Walmart.
Seriously...you're all for business, but would you want to live in such close proximity to it? Especially with signs lit up all night long?
Also keep in mind that on the one hand, business owners are insisting that all-night signage will improve their business, while on the other hand, 80% of the businesses in OV are already non-compliant with the sign code now, and these same people have admitted that their businesses are not doing well.
The just admitted that leaving their signs lit up beyond the time allowed has not helped their business!

Ok. Thanks for the clarification. Either way: Lets enforce the current code.

Watanabe---I disagee. Cox believes the BS he writes. Fotunately, the vast majority of our intelligent readers know better.
I for one, will let Bill Garner's voting record speak for itself.
We'll let Cox and his statements over the years speak for themselves as well.
If it was a softball between BILL & COX----COX WOULD LOSE BY THE MERCY RULE!
I don't know Art. He cannot possibly believe ALL of it. Methinks he likes to get our goats.

Hopefully their idiocy will be negated next year.
Thinker,
