Oro Valley Council Agrees To Sign On To Support Goldwater Institute In Supreme Court

We had hoped that the full council would have signed on to be "a friend of the court" in the upcoming Supreme Court case of Turken vs. Gordon (CityNorth case.)

That didn't happen. It was a 5-2 vote with Mayor Loomis & Council Member Kunisch evidently thinking this was not in the best interest of Oro Valley.

Too bad.

Thanks to the council memebers who voted to support the Goldwater Institute.

I wish there had been more discussion on this issue. I would like to know precisely why Loomis and Kunisch voted against it. Loomis said only that he thought it was "premature." He did not elaborate.

If memory serves, this is what he has also said in the past whenever a vote that could impact Vestar is on the table. Kunisch voted no but I didn't hear him give a reason for his decision. I wonder why they quickly voted no without an explanation as to what brought them to that decision.

I missed that part of the meeting.
Loomis saying it was "premature", hmm, wonder what he meant. I would say this is the time to xxxx or get off the pot if you intend to show support.
Wonder if he realizes this case is going to the AZ supreme court.

VC, The Mayor stated he didn't know enough about it (sure) and Kunisch went along for the ride - not too bright for either of them.
