Majority Respond To Our Poll: Let Utility Tax Expire On 4/1/09

More than half of the responses we received concerning the existing 2% Utility Tax, said, "Let it Expire."

That was not a surprise, although almost 1/3 of us thought keeping it to continue generating the $1.1 million revenue is a good idea.

The Town Council will make the definite decision in an upcoming vote. Chances are, the tax will expire.

Here's the results from the poll.

Keep the tax. OV needs the $1.1M Revenue
44 (31%)

Increase it to 4%
5 (3%)

Let it expire.
74 (53%)

I didn't know there was a tax
14 (10%)

If OV needs revenue, implement a Property Tax
10 (7%)

If OV needs revenue, increase our sales tax.
3 (2%)

It's up to the Town Council
3 (2%)

I don't know & I don't care

I would hardly call 153 total votes accurate of the town population. Especially if they knew that town jobs an services would be cut because of this.
