Az Star Reports On Oro Valley Paying Total Of $420,000 To ReConfigure El Con CC Golf Course

The July 10 Az Star reports on the fact that the Oro Valley Council voted to pick up the whole tab of $420,000 to reconfigure the 4th fairway of the El Con Country club golf course.

On July 2, we did a posting on this issue asking why Oro Valley is paying the whole amount: Oro Valley Will Pay $420,000 For El Con Country Club Golf Course Upgrade.

So far, the closest thing to an answer is a quote from Lynn Ericksen, El Conquistador County Club General Manager who said in reference to the widening of La Canada Dr: "The construction work has resulted in "economic hardship."

Too bad someone in the Oro Valley government, like Mayor Loomis, should have said: "Geez Lynn, why don't you use some of that bed tax "kick back" we've been giving the Hilton El Conquistador to the tune of $300,000 plus for so many years to help pay for the upgrade?"
