The Future Of Oro Valley

One of our bloggers was kind enough to provide us this picture. What do you think?

Thanks to OVWEBSLEUTH for the effort and the sense of humor----although, it may not be too funny.

At first I laughed. Then I realized that this picture is a strong possibiity of the future of OV.
My husband and I used to joke that if the developers had their way we would have a roller coaster around our beautiful mountains. Some company actually did a presentation before the council proposing such an idea!!

Wake Up Oro Valley! Terry Parish says he takes contributions from developers and is happy to do so and is proud of their support.

If we keep electing candidates who are just too eager to please these developers we are giving the developers too much power and control over what happens.
Developers and their pals count on voter apathy.
We need to control developers and development not the other way around.

This picture is a real composite of what is facing us! Love the Terry Parish sign on the corner! He had the money (developers' money) to mass mail two large expensive postcards to everyone to re-elect him. In his dreams!! Wonder which family that is with him on the postcard.

Shall we change our name to "Developers' Paradise/Homeowners' Nightmare"? Or is the name "Horror Valley" enough said?

Ferlin, I had to look at that picture again. Did you notice the smoke from the crematorium?

I did this in "good humor" but also to make a point. This is the reality of what we are facing in OV. I hope this makes everyone stop and think about what we are truely facing in the very near future.

I am considering selling my home before too much value is lost. I wanted to live out my 'golden years' in peace and tranquility.
Does anyone know if there is a Wal-Mart in Rio Rico?

Selling your soul (and community) to Vestar ---- $23.2 Million Dollars

A Secondary Property tax and Supersize park for Tucson children ---- $154 Million Dollars

Seeing Salette and Bill win the election.....PRICELESS!

Mscoyote,

I did NOT miss the smoke from the crematorium! I can hardly wait to take pictures of the Rancho Vistoso Crematorium when it starts to pollute our desert air! Then I will email it to the EPA in Washington----as if THEY care!

Cough! Cough! Does anybody know how to test for Mercury and other very damaging heavy metals emitted from the body burner???

The TOV Council Memorial Crematorium was tested this a.m.

Vapor was seen rising from "the stack"-- observed from Rancho Vistoso Boulevard.

Does this mean Harpold/Wagner et al have satisfied The Town and will give a "certificate of occupancy"?

Ferlin,

Yeah, I "loved" the postcards too! I loved them so much, I hung them on my fridge. . . you should have seen my wife's reaction when she saw them. . . . she thought I had finally lost my mind!

Like I said before, "...candidates families are often exploited BY and FOR the candidate..."

I wonder where "her" kids are? Why aren't they in the photo as well?

HMMMMM....they must have disagreed with Parish...so they don't exist.

What a lovely sight for the town of excellence!
Again I hope the business fails and
people do not have to support his business
Go elswhere.
The owner does not deserve the support of residents , I still say he is arrogant and greedy.
Council always seems concerned and talking about what attracts high end business, yeah, hmm, sure, the body burner on Rancho Vistoso will sure bring em in. Not

The picture first made me laugh but than I thought; this is so sad. Probably a very realistic rendering of what OV will look like if left in the clutches of the "incumbents" and developers.

Now I feel left out...we rec'd no political postcards from Terry Parish? He must know our family proudly does not support him and therefore he chose to save the postage.

Yes there are some people who know how to test for Mercury and other [substances]; being in the business, the Harpolds do! The apparatus needed is called a CEM - Continuous Emissions Monitor which could have been installed and fed through the internet 24/7 for all to see. But, of course, do you really think that the Harpolds believe that We the People have the right to know? HA!

Don't feel so sad... I am sure that he made a list and checked it twice!

Made sure that no one that outwardly opposes him at council or on this blog would get such a "personal" thing from him and his family!

I attended a meeting early last year regarding the widening of Oracle Road from Tangerine to Catalina. I have not heard of or read any follow-up to the proposed plan. Do any of you have any recent info on this? I live on the west side of 77 and have a growing concern with the amount of noise generated by the traffic. We have several options for noise abatement and would like to be a part of the solution.

If you go to ADOT's website, there is information on future protects. Oracle is a state highway, so its falls within their jurisdiction. The project schedules show the widening of oracle to 6 lanes from Tangerine to the Pinal County line as scheduled for FY 2010. The request for bids for widening Oracle from Calle Concordia to Tangerine will be issued in May 2008. The website is http://www.azdot.gov/Highways/ppms/APSRindex.asp . Hope this helps.
