Phoenix Judge Hears Oral Arguments On Goldwater Institute "Subsidy Case"

This morning, I and a few other interested Oro Valley neighbors traveled to the Maricopa Courthouse to hear Clint Bolick, Director of The Goldwater Institute present his oral argument against the three attorneys representing the interests of the Phoenix mayor (Turken vs. Gordon) in front of Judge Robert Miles.

For those readers not familiar with the case, The Goldwater Institute is challenging the city of Phoenix's $97.4 million subsidy to the developer of a planned mall in north Phoenix known as CityNorth.

We will be following this case closely as it goes through the court system. Hopefully, the Goldwater Institute will prevail, and put an end to these ridiculous giveaways to large retail developers. Sadly, even if victorious, it will be too late to help us in Oro Valley as we already committed to give "our" developers in excess of $50 million in our sales tax revenue, including the $23.2 million to Vestar. As you probably know, they are in the process of building that monster new Wal-Mart, our new "upscale, unique" retailer! (Be sure to see the post below.)

Hope that Clint Bolick reads this blog entry and knows that he has many supporters here in OV cheering him on.
Is Lisa Hauser the same attorney who was involved in the SOVOG court case?
Was she working to stop OV residents from having the chance to vote on whether to give away our future tax money?
Good Luck Clint
Go away Lisa Hauser

Ms Coyote --- Concerning Lisa Hauser, you're close, but not exactly correct In the OV 2004 election, she was the attorney hired by an anonymous OV person to go after a couple of citizens for "campaign violations." Many citizens believed it was a "witch-hunt."

I'd like to tell you how well she did representing the CityNorth developer, but I couldn't understand much of what she said, as it sounded like she was mumbling.
