Hi,

I realize this is not a commentary on OV but I'm finding that many local residents have loved ones now serving in the military, so I am hoping you would be so kind as to post an announcement on your blog.

Recently there was an article in the NW Explorer about a group of women whose sons have been deployed and they've banded together to form a chapter of Blue Star Mothers. I am now a member and as our first big project, we are soliciting goods to ship to the troops. These donated goods are going to "any soldier.com." not to our sons, and we're not targeting any particular branch of the service.

If any of your readers are interested in helping us out and supporting the troops in Afghanistan, Bosnia, Iraq or Kuwait, they can contact me for more information. I have a list of items that are needed and we're also accepting cash to cover the mailing expenses.

Blue Star Mothers are mothers who now have, or have had, children serving in the military. We are a non-profit (501[c]3) service organization supporting each other and our children while promoting patriotism.
