Bits and Pieces

Today, Oro Valley staff participating in Earth Day effort at Vistoso Trails Nature
"Town of Oro Valley employees will participate in an Earth Day beautification event on Friday, April 21 at 8:30 a.m. removing invasive species like buffelgrass and Russian Thistle from the newly acquired Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve. This is the second year Town employees have volunteered to participate in an Earth Day beautification event, providing them an opportunity to give back to the community and contribute to the Keep OV Beautiful program. Mayor Winfield and members of Council have also been invited to participate with staff." (Source: Town of Oro Valley Media Release)

Leonardo Electronics move to Oro Valley is on hold
A Leonard Electronics move from Marana to Oro Valley was on of the big wins we noted in our discussion earlier this month of Oro Valley Economic Development efforts. It was a signature. Unfortunately, that move is on hold, according to Interim Town Manager Chris Cornelison. "The last update we received was in December that they had a temporary setback on the project and will follow-up with us in June/July with a status update. They stated they are still committed to coming to Oro Valley, as they have invested a lot of money in their designs already, but they need to work through some challenges (costs, etc.)." This move is one of the key items for new town manager Jeff Wilkins to follow-up.
