Bohen Seeks Council Seat

Oro Valley resident is "up for the challenge"
Oro Valley Resident Tim Bohen is seeking one of the three open seats in this year's August town council elections.

Bohen decided to run for council because:
"I have decided to be part of the change which I seek for helping to guide the future of Oro Valley. Oro Valley has a challenging geography and limited physical infrastructure in addition to spectacular views.   Helping to manage Oro Valley in the future will require all of us to broaden our thinking about paths forward that will work in our unique situation."

Three immediate opportunities
Bohan sees the following are three immediate opportunities facing our community:
  • "The rapidly growing public safety pension obligations and failure of past Councils to understand the difference between the minimum payment and what Oro Valley should responsibly pay to best manage the obligation to essential public servants is inexcusable."
  • Regarding water: "We are at the very end of the Central Arizona Project with Las Vegas, Phoenix and even Tucson between us and this critical water source. All water projections used to support future growth must be strictly scrutinized in our public meetings.  Water is an area where our Staff needs to 'show their work' to the residents and our Council simply needs to raise our game in mastering this issue."
  • "Due to concentrated purchases within Innovation Park by Venture West in 2007, many businesses which may wish to move here simply cannot unless they want to deal with an effective monopoly of Oro Valley Tech Park land.  Blaming public participation and seeking to 'streamline' processes to suit the landowner simply masks the real challenges Oro Valley faces in attracting primary employers to Innovation Park.
A system engineer... history buff... community contributor
Bohen grew up in Southern California and moved to Oro Valley in 2015. He has a Bachelors degree in Physics from UCI and an MBA from Loyola Marymount. He is employed as a Systems Engineer.

Bohen has been active in Oro Valley since moving here in 2015. He graduated from the Community Academy in 2016 and the Citizens Academy in 2017. He has been a member of the Oro Valley Historic Preservation Commission since January 2018 and is a volunteer mediator with the Arizona Attorney General’s office.

When he's not working, his interests include aviation and history, with his greatest interest being frontier life and how the West was settled.  He is also a Red Cross platelets donor and encourages everyone to join in helping to meet this critical public health need.  Bohen is a  former member of Oro Valley Toastmasters.
