The Oro Valley Innovation Lab ("OVIL") will be built and ready to operate by next summer. This target date was announced at the September 4 "Groundbreaking Ceremony" hosted at the site's location: 1806 E Innovation Park Drive.
OVIL, a venture that includes the backing of the University of Arizona, will be a place for startup companies. It is the "branchild" of Venture West Partner, Neil Simon.
OVIL is a place for startups to bring concepts in biotechnology to commercial reality.
Winfield heralds the opportunity that OVIL brings
Speaking at ceremony, Oro Valley Mayor Joe Winfield thanked the many organizations that brought this idea to fruition: "These organizations are like a nurse tree... a larger, faster growing tree that shelters slower growing trees and plants."
