The Supreme Ruler: Hiremath Overides The Wishes Of The People

During the Sun City Candidate Forum, Mayor Hiremath said he uses the 2016 General Plan to understand what the people of Oro Valley want.

The General Plan, according to Mayor Hiremath, is the definitive statement to what the people want.
"The reason I don’t have to ask anybody [what they need] is because it's already stated" in the 2016 General Plan.

You can watch his complete remarks, in context.
He notes the strong voter approval of this plan. He notes that 75% of the voters approved it. He notes the 3 years spent by the town in creating the plan.

You would think that his council votes and decisions would demonstrate adherence to the 2016 General Plan
...especially to those elements of the 2016 General Plan that relate to how land is used in Oro Valley.

That is not the case
Mayor Hiremath and his council ignored the wishes of the people 7 times with 7 major general plan amendments within just 18 months of the plan being approved by the very people to whom he says he listens. (See our report)

Mayor Hiremath's actions of ignoring the 2016 General Plan speak louder than words
The Mayor's actions belie his Sun City words. Mayor Hiremath's 7 General Plan amendments tell us that the will of the people only matters to him when it is convenient for him to listen to them.

We repeat: If Mayor Hiremath believes that the General Plan states the wishes of the people, then why did he amend it 7 times in less than 2 years including amending it just 8 days after the voters approved it in November 2016?
