Comparing $2.5M Sahuarita Park To $48.6M Naranja Park

The Az Star reports that Sahuarita will be expanding their North Park by 32 acres to include new ball fields, basketball court, playground, etc.

The cost???? How about $2.5 million!

Oh. By the way, Sahuarita has a population of about 22,600----about half of Oro Valley.

So----they can do a 32 acre park for $2.5 million while Oro Valley proposes a Naranja Park on some of the 213 acres for $48.6 million!

Yeah! I know. We have more infrastructure costs and we're not comparing "apples to apples," but the math tells it all. Are we that rich, that we can afford ALL THESE EXTRA AMENITIES?

Why can't Oro Valley be a little more circumspect? Too late for that. Now, it's up to the voters to say "NO."

Boobie-Baby,

I'm leaving this message here because the previous posts regarding Rio Nuevo/Naranja Park comparisons are getting buried.

You said, "VC seems to believe that whenever tax funds are used for whatever purpose with which she doesn't agree, that the taxpayers have been "swindled." That's an interesting viewpoint."

When did I say THAT? I said that they were being swindled because they were told one thing and sold another. I didn't say they were swindled because I personally don't agree with the outcome.

If you and I were running for office against each other, your skewing of my words would be called political spin. Fortunately, the only people who fall for that tactic are the same people who read and believe the Enquirer. And I don't think any of those idiots are posting on this blog.

Nice try, though.
