The July 23 Explorer points out a new PAC has been formed that endorses the $48.6 expenditure to fund the Naranja Park via a secondary property tax that will be voted on this Nov.
We certainly understand there are many citizens that feel this park is a necessity for our community, as were a majority of the previous OV Council that saw fit to put this item on the ballot.
We can only hope the town sees fit to not endorse or assist this new group, as it would be a violation of the law, if the town uses resources to promote the park.
Reporter Patrick McNamara saw fit to quote me in the article, but unfortunately misspelled our blog www.letorovalleyexcel.com as well as Dick Furash's name.
Patrick did however get it correct when he quoted me as saying: “This park is not by any stretch of the imagination a necessity.”
It will be the majority of the voters that will decide whether or not this park will be approved. We hope the voters that were wise enough to put Bill Garner & Salette Latas on the council, and retain Barry Gillaspie will be smart enough to realize a park is a good idea, but the magnitude of this one is too much, especially in these times of hardship for so many of us, and will vote "NO."

Unbelievable that this group had the time to form a PAC! Why not use your time to find ways to get a park built without putting a hugh tax burden on your fellow citizens.
Hand outs from the government stink and teach our children the wrong lessons. As the father of three, coach, and one of the many that maintained and built our own fields I can tell you our kids got very involved in the process and are the better for it. All of my kids are very succcessful, are very involved in their communties, and fondly look back to the time they not only played sports but were part of the process.
Didn't someone once say, Its not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country?
The citizens in favor of complete government involvement in the construction and maintainance of this park are planting the seeds in their children for excessive dependence on government and others.
If the OV City Gov had not squandered our tax money on other projects, such as the world famous Steam Pump Ranch, they could build a park. Why don't we ask Wall Mart/Vestar to donate a cool $50M for a nice park?
