Is this an outdoor display code violation?  You tell us.

It is a display outside of "Play It Again Sports" at Oracle and McGee.

Don't the displays have to be 4 ft from the curb and not interfere with pedestrian walkways? Notice the man stepping into the street. This definitely is an outdoor code violation.

I think someone should call the 'Dandy Don Public Display Police' so they can come out, take pictures, write 20 or so letters to the zoning administrator, Director of DIS, Chief Librarian and the Pima County Animal Control department and put a stop to this atrocious violation of our town code. I am amazed that there aren't people lying in the streets with life threatening injuries as a result of this careless disregard for public safety.

And on a more serious note, yes there are violations of the code shown here. But it is also a perfect example of what happens when an hourly employee who is unfamiliar with the code is told to do something and does it to the best of their ability. There is a real good chance that all of our residents will survive this violation with no untoward results.

Thinker,

Do you know for a FACT that this happened because an hourly employee who was unfamiliar with the code was told to put out this display?

If that's true, then it is the fault of MANAGEMENT for not giving the employee proper direction.

The manager is at fault!

NOW what do you have to say?

Cares......You can plainly see that the individual in the photo is carring another display item in his right hand, so I suspect he is the person setting up the display.

Greetings All,

"To give closure to the Play it Again Sports picture. [Oro Valley] Staff was notified on Sunday and took immediate corrective action on Monday. They visited the store and explained the code. The Town, I think, took the appropriate action to prevent this from happening again."
