Aquatic Center 50 Meter Pool Opens Today

---
ORO VALLEY, Ariz. (September 18, 2012) - Oro Valley’s 50-meter, Olympic-sized pool has been completed and will open on Wednesday, September 18, 2012. A photo opportunity will be held at 4 p.m. with local swim teams and members of the Oro Valley Town Council.

The 50-meter pool marks the completion of the project’s first phase. Phase 2, which is slated for completion in March 2013, includes a splash pad, water slide, 25-yard recreation pool, family changing rooms, community classroom, concessions and much more.

While the rest of the complex remains under construction, pool use will be limited to lap swimming only, Monday through Friday, 3 – 8 p.m.

“The completion of the 50-meter pool is a tremendous milestone in the Aquatic Center Expansion Project. Our priority was to have this pool ready for our local swim teams, and tomorrow, they’ll get to enjoy it for the first time,” said Oro Valley Mayor Satish Hiremath. “We’re excited about moving on to Phase II now, and building a facility that will become the recreational heart of our community.”

In 2013, not only will families have a place to spend the entire afternoon, but this new competition-level facility will draw state and regional events, ultimately contributing to the economic health of the Town.

Information on daily admission fees, including discounts for residents, seniors and children, can be found online by visiting www.orovalleyaz.gov and clicking on the yellow “Aquatic Center Expansion” button.

A milestone celebration and ribbon-cutting for the 50-meter pool will be held Friday, October 5 at 4 p.m.
