"The ban on legal consumer fireworks imposed by the Town of Oro Valley on June 15, 2012 has been lifted, effective August 15, 2012.
The Golder Ranch Fire Chief has reviewed all significant fire potential data and has determined that the current fire conditions allow for the lifting of the ban.
“We appreciate the assistance from the Golder Ranch Fire District and the Fire Chief in continuing to evaluate the fire conditions,” said Greg Caton, Town Manager. “Fortunately, the conditions have significantly improved and we are comfortable lifting the ban.”" (Source: Oro Valley press release of August 13, 2012).

Want to get a hoot? Read the agenda for the stormwater utility meeting that took place last night. What's so funny? It lists of bunch of bullet points with no explanation and no attachments. For example: "Discuss stormwater fee." Huh? What about it? Raise it? Lower it? Discontinue it? This must have been a fun meeting.

"During its “Shop Oro Valley” Summer Campaign from June 1 to July 31, 2012, Oro Valley residents and visitors spending $25 or more at an Oro Valley business were eligible to participate in a weekly gift card drawing, sponsored by more than 30 Oro Valley businesses. Thanks to the generosity of our participating businesses, the Town was able to award 50 prizes such as gift cards and free services.
The campaign culminated in a grand prize drawing for a two-night stay at the Hilton El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort, including lunch for two, and a choice of one round of golf for two or two 50-minute custom spa treatments. We’re proud to announce that Oro Valley resident Victoria Kieltuski is our grand prize winner.
During the eight-week campaign, 868 receipts were turned in, for a total of $52,253.74 spent at Oro Valley businesses. " (Source: Oro Valley Press Release: August 15, 2012)

"Eleven teens from local schools were selected to conceive and construct a work of art on the southwest corner of West Hardy Road and North Northern Avenue that reflected the love that Oro Valley residents have for walking, biking and riding horses.
The result, "Path of Dreams (Paseo de los Sueños)," was dedicated last week. It features a rounded bench in the shape of a horseshoe decked out in elaborate mosaic imagery, a tiled dreamcatcher as its base and nearby hitching posts for resting riders and their equines." (Source: Arizona Daily Star)
