Today is the first day of the new Oro Valley Town Council. We have two new members, Mike Zinkin and Brendan Burns, and one re-elected Council Member, Bill Garner. Their presence should bring some balance in views to the Council, a council characterized for the past two years by 5-2 majorities in favor of Special Interests.
How did this come about?
You, the voters, made it so in March.
Now, it is time for the people to be heard.
Now, it is time for Mayor Hiremath, as the "leader" of the Council, to bring this Council together. This is his job and his job alone. Let's see if he will invest the time and the effort to do it.
Now is the time for incumbents Joe Hornat, Mary Snider and Lou Waters to put aside anger they may feel because the candidates that they supported in the election did not win. That election is behind us; the future is before us.
To Bill Garner, Mike Zinkin and Brendan Burns we give our thanks for taking on the challenge of governance.
