Governor Brewer today signed HB2826. It is now law that local elections will be consolidated with statewide elections.
"H. B. 2826 preempts all local laws, ordinances and charter provisions that are contrary to
the consolidated election schedule and beginning in 2014, the bill will subject "any governmental
entity" and "any other district organized under state law" to the consolidated election schedule."
It is unclear how this law will impact the Oro Valley 2014 elections since these elections occur before the 2014 August primary and November State elections. Extending the term of existing Council Members is not constitutional since they elected for not more than four years in office.
