He's Back: Ford's Latest Plan For The Beztak Property

---
"He's Back."

Rodger Ford announced his latest economic venture planned for the "Beztak" property:  Our bloggers are intimately knowledgeable of this property.  Roger's recent request to rezone this property for Apartment use was soundly rejected by the impacted citizens.  It was rejected by the town's planning and zoning department. It was barely rejected by the Town Council.  Read our report here.

At the Oro Valley Town Council meeting, Rodger made a personal appeal for rezoning this property based on a life-changing "accident" he had experienced.

My guess is that the only thing life-changing for Rodger regarding this accident is that he concluded that he better get something done about this property real quick, because there is no guarantee that we will see tomorrow!

Here's Roger's plan.

"Anthem Equity Group Inc. announced ... its plans to move forward with a 15-acre “Innovation Campus” at the northwest corner of East Rancho Vistoso Boulevard and East Vistoso Commerce Loop Road.  Anthem’s managing partners include Rodger Ford, the former of CEO of SynCardia Systems Inc., and David Mackstaller, a SynCardia vice president." (Grubb and Ellis Atlanta)(Arizona Daily Star).   The project calls for "Four 20,000-square-foot buildings - each 36 feet tall - will bebuilt first. Those buildings will house laboratories, manufacturingand warehousing. The construction of 10 8,000-square-foot high-techoffice buildings will follow, the company said."

The good news for the residents is that these buildings might block the view of the Crematory's  smokestack!

Heaven forbid that Ford should give the residents one moment's peace regarding what is going to happen with this property.

In my opinion, Rodger, the hot-head, Ford is playing with The Town and Neighborhood 2. I think he is going to do an MU (Multiple Use designation--newly "discovered, convenient", PAD entry)

Rodgie owns Easy Care (or perhaps his son-it's in the family) on Vistoso Commerce Loop and rumor has it that a chiropractor bought the parcel next to Easy Care which borders Rodgie's property.

What if Rodger could include that chiroprator's property in this MU (it is only rumor that it was sold)....wow-the apartments are back.

Please elect Coucil Persons you trust with your wishes. Burns, Garner, and Zinkin, fit my requirements :)

I prefer CPI straight (no games or new Council Convenient Mixed Use)...business, commercial.

Yeah, Solomon is "experienced" but I don't want 2-E divided in half---apartments and whatever.

The public relations piece in the paper was Ford's first shot that he intends to get something out of his property which is his right as a property owner,

However, at the budget forum on January 26, 2012, Helen Dankwerth bought up that the council she served on had let the request for commercial development expire.

Paul Keesler was asked was the status was for Mr. Ford's latest dalliance submittal. Paul said it was in the pre-application phase (just talking) and that Mr. Ford had not filed a formal application yet.

The newspaper made it sound like "build it and they will come".

Let's hope that Mr. Ford will follow Town Procedure for his development and hopefully not bring his lawyer to the Council and threaten litagation to get his way in this new approach.

Agreed, let us hope The Town follows THEIR procedures :)

Sorry to say but I trust not The Town....

Steve Solomon's signs do not/did not have a phone # on them????? Rumor has it that he is going around with a grease pencil and correcting that.

Having lived in "old, organized, long-established" towns, this is a real experience....living in OV.

The residents here are apparently in on the forming stages of another IL "town"...aaah the deceit, the built in irregularities, the graft, the corruption.

Of course, that is not new for AZ...my shock absorbers leaked on I-40 years ago. :)
