Oro Valley Planning Staff Recommends Denying Beztak General Plan Amendment Request

---
We're pleased to report that, last evening, the Oro Valley Planning Staff recommended denial of the requested General Plan Amendment that would allow apartments built on the northwest corner of Rancho Vistoso Blvd and Vistoso Commerce Loop.

This s a great first step for those residents who have worked so hard to make their negative responses to this request known.

This is not a "done deal". The next public hearing on this request is November 15th. The time and place is posted in the left hand column of this page.

Be sure to attend this hearing if you are concerned about this amendment.

TO: Bloggers with business backgrounds

QUESTION: How comfortable and confident would you feel in partnership with a colleague who...

-Presented documentation that was refuted by Standard and Poors, Craig's List postings and AZ Star article about the topic?

-Said but didn't present evidence of massive hiring planned by three local companies

-Said but presented no proof that they had sufficient cash on hand that they did not need Banks to fund the project

Would you enter into contract with them? What would you ask of them before you would give them your business?

Zee,

How right you are that only commitment, cooperation and teamwork could launch such a strenuous resistance in so short a period of time! Ironically they share similar issues with 7-I and have united for mutual support, "the peoples' party".

Hello Nombe,

Actually OVOT was the person who alerted this to me. And he was not weeping at the time.

At the hearing this week, one of our bloggers noted that sharp, citizen-centric questions that Don Cox asked.

So, perhaps all your hard work in the past has won him over!

Or perhpas he was simply doing the job as he see it.

Either way, I know many of us are pleased.

Now, we need to remain vigilant as this was not the end of the process.

Oh, I know OVOT's heart is in the right place, I just like to bug him from time to time.

I owe him a nice glass of wine. And I do have a Pinot that would drive him to proclaim that Art is alway right!

Foxen Vineyard. "Sea Smoke"

Nombe et al....

As I have said many times on this blog, I take my job on the Planning and Zoning Commission very seriously.

I do believe that when an individual/group/corporationcomes forward and wants to invest millions of dollars in our community or $1 in our community the default answer should be "yes" as long as it is a plus for the community as a whole AND the impact on those most immediately effected can be reasonably mitigated.

More importantly NOMBE, according to my calculations, you owe me far more than a "glass".
But I'll settle for a glass at any time and place you wish to meet.

Have a great weekend, but stay warm!!!!!

Don

The UNwelcome mat should be highly visible to discourage UNdesirable development!
The OV Planning department has worked with Beztak before. They have learned how Beztak conducts business. I believe they have made a very wise decision.
