In another disgraceful action lead by Mayor Hiremath, and followed by his "four stooges," the council last night voted 5-2 (Garner & Gillaspie , the only two with any compassion) to once again reconsider the Coyote Run Bus Service.
Once again, these five are "playing mind games" with the elderly & disabled that require this service, by putting off another decision until July 20.
These representatives can not make a definitive decision and do NOT deserve to serve the people of Oro Valley!
Their action is nothing less than abominable.

When Solomon and Waters put this item back on the agenda for another vote, I knew that THEY knew that they had the 5 votes necessary to overturn the previous decision. And whaddaya know, they got the 5 votes.
Violation of open meeting laws?
VC,
Thanks for raising the issue of Open Meeting Laws.
Key here is "open". Both constituents and officials are protected by these laws. Maybe, as you suggested, we need to call on them more.
Why? Why do we have Open Meeting laws?
"To protect the public."
"To avoid decision making in secret."
"To promote accountablity by encouraging public officials to act reponsively and responsibly."
"To prepare and avoid being blindsided (agenda)."
"Build trust between government and citizenry."
Solomon and Waters just "undid" their protection of our vulnerable citizens and 'a fortiori' the rest of OV citizens.
The vote was arranged prior to the meeting, demonstrated by the process.
Mayor HigherTaxes manipulates rules to fit his plan and avoids "due process" when he has a choice.Does this Mayor really care about what we, the citizens, want?
The Fatal Five were underprepared for the 6/1 meeting, embarrassed by Garner,Gillaspie,Coyote Runs clients' superb presentations. Solomon and Waters saved them by requesting a Reconsideration. It's like a "makeup test" for an underperforming student.
The impact of this maneuver, however, outraged constituents who ask to be heard, ie "due process". What Fatal Five demonstated is callous disregard for people, OV's most precious resource. While the shock of FF's indifference to the quality of life may cause many to look on in disbelief, when reality sets in, they will mobilize and rebel. The force of that rebellion will be monumental.
How many times does this group of 5 have to 'reconsider' their votes.....maybe until the recall is over?
The grandstanding I observed on June 15 sounded more like campaign speeches.
Is there the possibility of a done deal behind closed doors in a letter to Hiremath dated June
7 from Gary Hayes, the RTA Executive Director?
It reads: Needless to say we were certainly surprised and disappointed at OV Town Council decision last week to continue Coyote Run in its current format. As you know, RTA staff has been working closely with Town Staff... we were led to believe that the solution had the support of the Town's elected officials.
The same day Hiremath's assistant sends an email to council members: The Mayor respectfully requests that you do not make contact with Mr. Hays directly.
Makes you stop and ask yourself a few questions doesn't it?
Conny,
Sounds like you caught MayorHigherTaxes "in flagrante" with his puppeteer pulling the strings!"...we were led to believe that the solution had the support of the Town's elected officials..." You have a most compelling piece of information!
Kudos to you for transparency in government.
HigherTaxes consistently ignores due process when asks Councilmembers not to contact Mr. Hays. Why? The less they know about the service, the more strings his puppeteer can pull, the more he controls the vote, the more he's beholden to RTA.
