A Must Read: Special Interests Form "Citizens For A Better Oro Valley PAC" To "Save" Hornat & Snider

So---for those of you asking: Why was a PAC formed to recall Joe Hornat & Mary Snider, perhaps you'll have a better understanding as you read on?

A new PAC---- CITIZENS For A Better Oro Valley has been formed to try to salvage Hornat & Snider's council seats.

By the way, I saw fit to capitalize the word "CITIZENS."

Who do you suppose these "citizens" are?

You're not going to believe this, but here's the list of the "CITIZENS."

ORO VALLEY POLICE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION

ORO VALLEY FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE (LODGE #53)

TUCSON ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS

SOUTHERN ARIZONA HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION (SAHBA) ("The Appointed One" Solomon is one of them)

NORTHERN PIMA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Need I say more?

It was these and other SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS THAT HELPED ELECT HORNAT & SNIDER, and we knew that meant trouble. Now it is in their best interest to keep these two on council so they'll get what they want, regardless of the negative impact on us poor CITIZENS.

There's plenty of misleading information on their PAC literature, but their attempt of intimidating the voters by stating a recall will cost "up to" $70,000 is an egregious exaggeration. ("Up to" is meaningless, unless you're trying to "scare" the people as to the cost.)

This is the time for the good citizens of Oro Valley to step up, sign the recall petitions, and be on our way to taking back OUR town from the Special Interest Groups.

Please help RECALL HORNAT & SNIDER by signing The Petition

Geez1 Do you think if the elderly & disabled that use Coyote Run join with the OV cops and other Special Interest Groups and sign on to Hornat & Snider's PAC, they'll be able to save their bus service?

Who knows, it seems to help the cops keep their 68 take home cars!

Art....Do you not have any concept that you and your 'band of thieves' are a special interest group also. This pathetic blog is a special interest.

So don't try this holier than thou crap on the folks. It just sounds.....stupid.

The fact that you respond to your own posting isn't a big sing of smarts either.

OV Objective Thinker said...

Whoa....The typo police will call me if I don't correct "sign" for "sing"

Whew!!! That was close.

Sing was ok. Thus:

"I sing the body electric"

One Nombe Blog point for the source of the above quote.

Nombe,

My husband is answering your question with:

1) it was a poem by Walt Whitman

2) and it was a short story by science-fiction writer, Ray Bradbury

3) and it was the title of a Twilight Zone episode

4) and (this is probably the one you're referring to) it was the title of an album by 1970's jazz fusion band, Weather Report.

So do I get 4 Nombe Blog Points?

By the way, my husband, who was half asleep as he recuperates from a recent illness was STILL able to answer that question in under 15 seconds!

OVOT,

Since I'm the "Typo Police" do I get a take-home vehicle?

You claim that the people on this blog are a special interest group, yet also assert that police organizations are NOT a special interest group, realtors are NOT a special interest group, home builders are NOT a special interest group, etc.

You're funny. And not in a good way.

OV Objective Thinker said...

VC....Typo police policy is handled by Pima County. They tax you far more than Oro Valley. So call chuckleberry and see if you can join the 628 other folks who have take home vehicles.

Where is it that I "assert(ed)" that police organizations, realtors and home builders are not special interest groups?

Nombe Watanabe said...

VC. Very good. Walt Whitman is what I was looking for. You get 1 blog point.

And when OVOT admits that OV does not have to follow the BAD example of the county and run 68 take home vehicles I will reward him also.

OV Objective Thinker said...

Nombe......This is a very tough decision. Getting a blog point from you is a big carrot. So allow me to hedge just a bit and then you will have to make the final decision. I am not saying, nor have I ever said, that we should have 68take home vehicles. I can't make that determination as I do not have the expertise or experience. However, I will say that I have a great deal of faith in our Chief, who is VERY well regarded in police circles not only in the state of Arizona but also nationally. I also know that THE AMOUNT OF TAX THAT I PAY TO ORO VALLEY IS MINIMAL. So for that small amount of money that I pay, I get a police department that is second to none in this area and first in the state in our population group, I am not going to bitch. I would rather pay a few pennies more for a safe community than mess with something that is working. On the other hand, I am heavily taxed (highest county in the state) by Pima County. So if I am going to gripe about high taxes, and use take home vehicles as one of my foundations, I am going to go where my time and effort will make the most impact. And it ain't Oro Valley my friend.

Bottom line....the recall is stupid. It is personal and it is being driven by a group of small minded individuals.

I deserve the point! :-)

Well I guess I could give you a hedge point, but Art will not allow it. (joke!!)

Nombe....I know. Art is pretty narrow minded. (Not a joke!!)

May I remind our readers that this post was written to show that Hornat & Snider came up with a PAC in an attempt to save their seats on council.

Who doesn't find the fact that this "CITIZENS For A Better Oro Valley" is totally ludicrous based on who is backing these two?

These "supporters" prove one thing:
They'll do anything to save their two votes on council, whether it be, cop raises, cop take home cars, more "A" frame signs throughout the community,
businesses leaving lights on throughout the night or less impact fees on new building.

The Latin term for this support is---"Quid Pro Quo!"

OV Objective Thinker said...

May I be the first to question the validity of Art's first comment in his last post.

I believe that everything that is posted on this blog by the blog master, is posted for one of two reasons:

1. It fits/supports and trumpets art segal's personal agenda and not necessarily the betterment of the community.
2. It allows art segal to feel that he is important.

Beyond that it is nothing but whitewash.

Everything in life is a "quid pro quo"(qpq). The Latin translation for that is "one thing in return for another". Every transaction at a store is a qpq. We do things for a reason. If we do a and want b to result, that's qpq.

There is nothing wrong or illegal or immoral about qpq. Except that art wants you to think that it is dirty.

I hope that most of you see through his "cow manure".

I usually won't bother to respond to cox, but I'll do so on this occasion to point out my "real agenda."

1) I am against 75' hotels when the code says 36' max.)

2) I am against this council doing whatever they can to disrupt the lives of the elderly & disabled that require Coyote Run.

3) I am against the "giant" wall" along our scenic corridor of Oracle road.

4) I am against giving $23.2 million of OUR tax dollars to Vestar so we can have a Walmart in lieu of an "upscale" shopping mall.

5) I am against "balancing" a budget by taxing the people & the schools, while allowing 68 cops to drive their police cars home, regardless of where they live.

6) I am against appointing a home builder to the council whose only agenda seems to be to vote against the people's best interests.

7) I am against bringing back a 4 year old resolution unanimously passed concerning the damage to our environment & habitat by a foreign Mining Co.

8 Most important, I am against council members who promise one thing, and after getting elected, forget their promises, but have the audacity, after a recall is initiated, to state they have "remained true to their campaign commitments."

True to their commitment to every Special Interest Group that helped elect them!

So, cox is right. I do have my own agenda, and for sure, being a proponent of these causes makes me feel damn important!

The only difference between a fool & cox is--- you don't know a fool is a fool until he opens his mouth. cox leaves no doubt!

OV Objective Thinker said...

art....You never fail to disappoint. I have said the following about you ever since our paths first crossed and you came through in spades today:

You never have a positive thing to say about our community. You are always "against" something.

You listed 8 items on your "real agenda". Each one of them started off with the words, " I am against."

That should tell you something. It tells us (confirms) a great deal.

artmarth said...

cox--- your ignorance in either not comprehending or intentionally misconstruing will not go unnoticed by our readers.

You prove my statement, by once again putting your foot in your mouth.

Any one with any intelligence will not require any explanation from me as to what I wrote. (Obviously, that precludes you!)

Victorian Cowgirl said...

OVOT,

You asked, "Where is it that I "assert(ed)" that police organizations, realtors and home builders are not special interest groups?"

So are you implying that you never said that? Therefore, you would also be implying that you DO think that these entities ARE special interest groups. Yes?

If yes, then you are agreeing with us that Hornat, Snyder, Solomon, Hiremath are catering to these special interest groups!

If anyone is looking for OVOT, you'll find him between a rock and a hard place.

Victorian Cowgirl said...

OVOT,

You said, "There is nothing wrong or illegal or immoral about qpq."

I disagree. I think it's unethical/immoral/wrong to buy someone's vote with a promise to do something specifically for that person/group to the detriment of another group, in this case, the citizens of OV.

It's OUR town and WE ARE the taxpayers supporting it yet there is never any money for the things that we need but there is always money to support whatever the special interest groups want.

You have yet to explain how giving town employees fully paid health insurance and paid birthdays off while raising our taxes is a win-win situation for the citizens of OV.

Tell me how fully paid health insurance is "for the betterment of the community." Tell me how paid birthdays off is "for the betterment of the community." Tell me how free coffee is "for the betterment of the community."

Hornat et al. were elected to represent ALL of us, not just their "chosen ones."

Then you chastise Art for being against things. Hmmm...you were against OV1st, you were against Salette, you are against Garner, you are against the recall, you're against regulations on business, you're against regulations on the environment, you were against Zinkin, yada, yada, yada.
