Joe Hornat Has Brought His Hometown Chicago Politics To Oro Valley: Lies, Deceit & Intimidation

Hornat & Snider certainly have a right to fight their potential recall. However, that does not include, lies, deceit & intimidation.

Here is a firsthand view of what happened at the Oro Valley Library on Sat. June 11. We should note,Joe Hornat’s supporters showed up at the library the prior two Saturdays, and attempted to intimidate the volunteers trying to get signatures of OV voters on the recall petitions.

It only got worse on June 11.

As they did the two weeks earlier, those trying to get signatures showed up before 9:00AM only to find Hornat’s people already there.

There were 8-10 people from his "team" at all times. They took the place alongside the main entrance with their table, which blocked the view of the volunteers. When Joe was asked to share, he said, "First come, first served....you get what is left!"

Those folks trying to get signatures positioned themselves to the left side as you face the library not in front of the book chutes but towards that area. The librarian had come out last week and lectured them on crossing the dividing line in the cement and getting in front of the doorway, which they didn't do. Hornat’s group milled around, never sat down and covered the entire entrance; some even went inside chasing after people to talk to them.

Two guys stood by the main pillar trying to pass out stuff. Two of the women were recognized as being part of the "disgruntled housewives" of Oro Valley from two weeks ago. They milled around shoving leaflets in peoples' faces. When someone would come to ‘our’ table, one would run over and shove a leaflet in his/her face and say loudly, "Read this first!" That is how we got a leaflet of the two lies. The first one says "Joe Hornat is responsible for bringing 500 jobs to Oro Valley.” What 500 jobs? The second statement says, "This recall election will cost the taxpayers $70,000,” but our brochure corrects that as there is only a minimal cost during a regular election for a Recall. How do they get away with lies?

Does this always happen at recall petition signings? Or is this Joe's brand of Chicago Politics he brought with him? We weren't near the building. We weren't blocking the entrance to the book return chutes, but the other gang had the whole front entrance filled up with their people to prevent access to our tables...they had to come around by the chutes to sign---and quite a few did---maybe not as many as would without the intimidation.

OK.....Let's do a poll. How many people think that if Art had been there first he would have given up space to the Hornat crowd?????

LMAO

I have yet to meet a more abrasive human being in this community than Art Segal. So I doubt Art has any room to talk when it come to the conduct of others.

Lastly, I will get a relative comprehensive and accurate view of what REALLY happened shortly and be able to present the other side.

Have a great week everyone.

Blog Master, you are a jerk. Why don't you go back to New York and join up with your buddies back there. Don't think they would want you back either. Get a life!

cox-- you saw last week that I deleted a comment of yours when you thought you'd get away using internet slang.

This will be the last time. The only reason, I'm leaving your comment, and the one from that other person is because it says more about the two of you than it does me.

And by the way, there is "no other side."
You and others may lie, but the video does not!

Your comments really show who you are and how really awful you really are Get a life!

What is so telling about this whole scenario is that Mr. Hornat gave this answer to a woman who had contributed money to his compaign and now feels betrayed. What does that tell you about behavior, civility and truth?

Art,

I have a great idea. Why don't you and I sit down and write a book together. It would look like we're best buds!!!!We'll title it, "THE ART AND DON GUIDE TO PROPER RECALL ETIQUETTE".
See how accommodating I am...I gave you first billing. It would probably make the Arizona Daily Star best seller list with all the sales we could generate here in Oro Valley. We’ll be in the dough then, buddy.

We could make up rules like how many square feet each camp would get in front of libraries. And where are the signature 'hot' spots at Farmer's Markets. (I am partial to setting up by the produce since that's very popular...and healthy)

Then we could expand and write a sequel called "CONDUCTING A RECALL ON A DIME". In this one we could describe how to waste the least amount of taxpayer money on idiotic recalls.

Then the next book in the series could be, "TO RECALL OR NOT TO RECALL. THAT IS THE QUESTION". I like the ring to that one. In this we could outline the TOP five reasons for recalling an elected official. Let's start by using some of yours:

1. Always recall when someone is appointed that you don't like. The fact that they are qualified and bring a different perspective to the group is not important. We'll title this chapter, "I Don't Like….. You Take a Hike!"

2. The next one will be about how many vehicles are allowed to be driven home. We won't just limit it to police cars we'll include all employees just like other jurisdictions do. We’ll have to do some research here. I know that may be difficult for you, but being that we are buds, I’ll pick up the slack. We’ll have to find out how many vehicles other governments allow. Oh….I already know that. Our county allows 628 vehicles. The one ton dually pickup truck was my favorite. I’ll bet that sucker eats some gas. We could work in a physical fitness theme into this one and title Chapter Two, “Ride a Bike or Take a Hike.”

I’m sure you get the picture. We outline REALLY IMPORTANT stuff.

Boy, this is going to be fun! I can’t wait to get started!

VV......Did I miss a quote from Mr. Hornat? I am not following your comment.

I think I know what Vistoso Val is referring to. I am aware that there is a woman in town who used to like Joe Hornat and his wife. As far as I know, she contributed to his campaign and and as such, I assume she also voted for him. She has been disappointed in his votes on the council and is now working the recall tables.

The civil thing for Hornat to do at this time would be to offer to have a conversation with this woman, a former supporter, and try to learn why she has become so disenchanted with him. He could also take the opportunity to explain to her WHY he has voted the way that he has. And he could listen to her concerns as to WHY she disagrees with him.

Instead, he shows up with his band of thugs and uses rudeness and intimidation to get his way.

And, as such, all he is doing is proving that she is correct to have changed her mind about him.

desertfox38,

You sound like a 14-year old. If you're an example of the mentality and maturity level of Hornat and Snyder supporters, well, they should be embarrassed.

"First come, first serve" hardly seems conciliatory to me! It feels more like a gauntlet on the ground, a challenge, a lack of civility. Urban street observers like law enforcement would call that statement PROVOCATIVE!

While OVOT wants us to think he thinks clearly, he's rooted in cement, without any flexibility, oppositional. "Disagreeing without being disagreeable" is an Art-form, Mr. Cox!

Victorian Cowgirl, et al :), I think that Mr. Hornat will not admit to his "reasoning" because it would be personally embarrassing.

It seems to me, that he is following the "in-crowd". He has achieved status, he believes.

In his effort to "be somebody" he probably does not concern himself with those he considers less powerful.....even if they are more educated.

OVOT. Just because the County Government is spending too much on take home vehicles does not indicate that OV should do the same. You know I am right.

OV Objective Thinker said...

Nombe....I agree with you, but once again, I don't have the training or background to make that call on the OV take home vehicles.

I am sorry, but all this conversation is "stimulating", BUT the bottom line here is (even a Council Member of another city brought this to many individuals attention) /they LIED. At public forums, that stated no new taxes and on Mary Snider's website "NO NEW TAXES" THEY HAVE LOST THEIR CREDITABILITY!!!!! Why or who would TRUST them in the future. Almost like Cong. Weiner stating "That is not a picture of me". MAYBE THE ONES ON Jay LENO were not, but what about all those others?

OV Objective Thinker,

Do you remember when you wrote this about the event in front of the OV Library?

"Lastly, I will get a relative comprehensive and accurate view of what REALLY happened shortly and be able to present the other side."

I AM STILL WAITING.
