By a vote of 6-1, with Bill Garner being the "one," Oro Valley basically told the senior citizens and the disabled, you're not important.
Or as "The Appointed One," Steve Solomon noted:
"Unfortunately, this is where the rubber hits the road. When you cut, you affect real people and real lives."
Solomon added that the cuts are necessary to balance the town's budget.
So, The Coyote Run Transit Service that was designed to be used for those age 62 and older, and the disabled, will be disbanded.
Discontinuing the bus service in order to help balancing the budget is one thing.
These other six on the council want to save money?
Let them join with Bill Garner and vote to take away the vast majority of the 68 police take home vehicles, that go as far as Sahaurita.
These priorities prove what this council majority cares about; and it's certainly not the people!

Ring Ring:
911 Operator: Oro Valley 911 may I help you?
Tax Payer: Yes, there is an evil doer at my door. Help!
Operator: Yes sir. The police are on the way.
Tax Payer: Thank you, when will they be here?
Operator:Well, as soon as they drive the take home vehicle up from Sahuarita!!
Wananabe--- Thanks for the comment. It may be just a little bit of an exaggeration, but you certainly did a good job making the point.
Whether it's on the local level or the national level, did you ever notice that every time the government has to make budget cuts, that the cuts are always aimed at the least fortunate members of the population? Yes, it's always the elderly, the poor, the disabled, the single mother, etc.
Art. The point of a take home vehicle is to enable the driver to respond in a timely fashion. The individual who lives in Sahuarita would need a take home airplane. But I guess I should not give the Dentist any ideas.
Vicki Cowgirl:
Plenty o' money for three wars in the Arab world. No money to pay for health care.
Hey Watanabe--- Please don;t get the Cowgirl started on National (International) issues.
We have enough problems right in in Oro Valley. Try sticking to the important issues, such as "The Dentist," and the possibility of the cops starting to take airplanes home.
Thanks
Art
