We're Disappointed, But Not Everybody Agrees With Our Candidate Choices

We want to take a moment to thank all our readers who have taken the time to acknowledge their support and votes for our candidates of choice---Mike Zinkin for Mayor & Dr. Don Emmons for Council.

Needless to say, not everyone agrees with us.

To prove that point, I thought I'd share one email in particular we received from an Oro Valley voter that was not too complimentary.

I thought it best to redact the full name of the letter writer, as I certainly wouldn't want to embarrass her, although I wonder if her boyfriend, the incumbent council candidate knew about her email.

Here is her message (rec'd in size 36 BOLD FONT)
and my reply (in size 10 FONT)

You are out of your mind! Mike Zinkin is the LAST person that Oro Valley needs! He's so firmly in your pocket that he hasn't had a thought of his own in a very long time. What are you thinking??? It certainly isn't about what's best for OV. Has it ever been? Or are you still just thinking about what's best for Art Segal??
Sincerely,
Voter Dottie

Dear Ms. xxx --- Thanks for taking your valuable time in enunciating your views about Mike Zinkin and me. (It was very easy for me to read your rather large font. Thanks.)
I'm sorry it took so long for me to respond, but I was busy getting Mike "out of my pocket."
You really must be joking!

Her boyfriend is the incumbent council candidate? KC Carter?

OK, I made this up while cleaning the house...

If you desire a downward path
You will vote for Hiremath

A vote for Loomis
Will surely doom us

But if you're thinkin'
You'll vote for Zinkin!

(I'm sure Nombe could put this to music...)

Or how about this little ditty:

Our sales tax will be a sinkin'
If we elect Mike Zinkin.

That's kind of catchy?

The bellowing from my beagle,
Sounds like hearing from Segal.

SometimesI want to hurl,
when I read stuff from the Cowgirl.

Hey, this is fun!!

Can't wait for the submissions about my name!!! :-)

Bring it on Nombe!!!

ORO VALLEY THINKER IS A STINKER!
HE WANTS TO TAX US LIKE THE KAISER
WHAT WE NEED IS A MISER.

I didn't expect this posting to turn into a "ditty contest," but here's an input from a poetic blogger.

How's it look for Mike Zinkin?

Is he going to be another Lincoln?

I hear he does some really deep thinkin'

especially when he hears those tax dollars clinkin'

and Mayor Loomis has got the whole place stinkin'

with another tax bill he'll soon be inkin'

trying to pull a fast one while the people are blinkin'

but soon Mr Loomis will crawl away shrinkin'

and the town will salute their new Mayor Zinkin.

Good luck!!!

Thinker,

Here's one just for you...

Thinker, thinker
Little czar
How I wonder what you are...

Not sure what the real point of this particular post is, since it doesn't really seem to advance the blog's stated goal of promoting its favored candidates or a robust discussion of political issues facing the town. Alas, it has served to facilitate some rather pedestrian (and, in some cases, drab) songwriting displays.

And, Art, I thought you already set the record straight about what you and others at LOVE can truly expect from Zinkin and Emmons, should the prevail in this election. Why pile on?

Drab? Pedestrian?

Methinks Mr. Martin is frustrated critic. We all know the best critic is one with a sense of humor.

John Martin,

We've had plenty of "robust discussion of political issues facing the town." Every once in awhile we could all use a little humor.

Hello John Martin,

We be "chillin" man, that's all.
