Mayor Loomis was given an opportunity to refute Geri Ottoboni's letter to the Explorer with a four column article citing "the importance of experience, and facts."
Loomis negated to mention some other facts about his so called "leadership."
Let's elaborate.
Under the Loomis "leadership"----
1) Over $50,000,000 was approved for retail developers in the form of subsidies. The revenue generated from these ill conceived giveaways has been so short of projections to be funny---if it wasn't so sad.
2) When this present council saw fit to put the sales tax revenue into an escrow account awaiting the Supreme Court ruling in the CityNorth case, Loomis cast the only "no" vote.
3) You know about the Ritz Carlton resort at Dove Mountain in Marana. Well they were coming to Oro Valley and Loomis and his "pals" committed $900,000 for a water facility plus a 2% bed tax "kickback." If that wasn't bad enough, Loomis saw fit to give the Sheraton (now The Hilton) the same 2% "kickback'---with no justification.
That fiasco has cost us upward of $3 million dollars and is still ongoing.
4) Loomis spent about $11,000 dollars on his European sojourn to Roche and other facilities. It's been a year and a half, and still no report from the mayor on justifying the trip. Oh yeah! He did give a 2 minute presentation to the Roche people. That cost us about $5,000 a minute, when a video could have been done for $5 bucks.
5) He talks about "sustainability." Talk is cheap. He voted "no" on the issue that was passed.
6) He also voted "no" on the proposed Economic Development Commission that the Council passed.
7) Remember how the voters turned down the $48.6 million bond issue for the Naranja Park construction? If Loomis had his way, it probably would have been $160 million.
8) How about the 2% Utility Tax on our gas, water & electric bills. That ill conceived tax was due to "sunset" this past April. That was until Loomis kept it going on a 4-3 vote.
9) He consistently touts the merits of TREO and voted to give them $40,000 of our money just this year. Is there any wonder why? There shouldn't be. Loomis is on their Board of Directors and as recently as last month TREO paid for his trip to Albuquerque. Talk about a quid pro quo!
10) We all know our contingency fund is to be used for one time necessary expenditures. In May 2009, Loomis lead the charge, convincing Carter, Kunisch & Abbott to raid this fund against the recommendation of then Town Manager David Andrews. Why? To keep the extra police that even the Police Chief Danny Sharp was willing to lose.
11) Loomis is hardly being truthful when he discusses the termination of Mr. Andrews on a set-up farce of a meeting on Sept 23. We all know Loomis orchestrated the forced termination of David. We haven't heard the last of this sorry event. We're still looking into the fact that Loomis and his "3 stooges" violated the Az Open Meeting Laws. How else was Loomis so intuitive that he "felt" the Council would terminate David that evening? That action by Loomis in itself is enough reason to send him packing!
12) As a final way of proving his inept leadership, just a few weeks ago at the State of The Town Speech, Loomis said on TV a Property Tax on Oro Valley homeowners might be necessary. Sure! Give money to his cronies at TREO and then tax the citizens. What a sham!
There's plenty more, but the above dozen items should prove one thing to the voters of Oro Valley----
LOOMIS MUST GO!
VOTE MIKE ZINKIN FOR MAYOR!
Here's what Loomis had to say in The Explorer.

Experience does matter.
Mike Zinkin has both private and public sector experience.
Unlike Mayor Loomis, Mike has the advantage of not being wedded to the mistakes of the past and he is clearly not beholden to any special interest group.
