A Property Tax ---Will This Be Another Vindictive Vote By Loomis And His Cronies?

Our mayor saw fit to let the media know that a PROPERTY TAX may be on the horizon.

We wonder, did Loomis make another unilateral decision without consulting the other members of the council----or did he have the acknowledgment of his 3 stooges, Carter, Kunisch and Abbott that they too would support a property tax?

We know that just last week, Loomis had no qualms whatsoever in walking into the office of David Andrews telling him he better resign because his (loomis) "intuition" told him, he had four votes to fire him.

Was it "intuition" that had Loomis say a Property Tax may be forthcoming?

I can tell you this. Bill Garner, Barry Gillaspie & Salette Latas had no part in this deal. They knew nothing about the Loomis "intuition" as it pertained to David's termination, and they knew absolutely nothing about the latest announcement from Loomis and they certainly do NOT support a property tax.

Bill, Barry & Salette all understand our expenditures must be in line with our revenue stream. We can NOT increase our expenditures while our revenue diminishes.

David Andrews who spent more than a decade as our Financial Director fully understood that simple credo. Bill, Barry & Salette have the intelligence to know it as well.

The other four demonstrated they either don't know it, or don't care as those four fools RAIDED OUR CONTINGENCY FUND against the votes of Bill, Barry & Salette, and against the recommendation of David.

Now Loomis has the audacity to say we may need a property tax in the near future.

Who in their right mind can support such fiscal irresponsibility? I don't believe many will.

Send Loomis & his cronies packing BEFORE they do more damage to our community!

The Oro Valley voters would have to approve a Property Tax. Loomis would probably have the four votes to put this on the ballot. I think the result would be much like the Naranja Town Site vote.

Somehow Loomis got the votes to put the Naranja Town Site vote on the ballot. KC Carter worked hard to kill it at the polls.

Carter has run two successful campaigns on a single promise: no property tax. But he is so senile and vindictive right now, I wouldn't put it past him to be the fourth for his new best friend Loomis. I think he has already decided not to run for another term, and he wants to screw everyone on his way out of office.

But more importantly, I think we have the real reason for the termination of David Andrews. David consistently delivered balanced budgets that required cost-cutting measures. Loomis et al want their spending spree to continue indefinitely no matter what the economy looks like.

I think it's very telling that right after this announcement, Loomis, Carter, and Abbott went off on a taxpayer-funded boondoggle to Albuquerque.

"Mom"--- Good observations. A couple points where we may disagree.

I don't believe Carter is senile. Vindictive? Without doubt. Cunning? You bet. Senility? No. He planned all this out and knows exactly what he's doing.

Will Carter run again? I don't know. If he's smart, which is questionable, he'll realize he lost just about all his support. That however, may not deter him, because he may not even know it.

As for the "real" reason David was terminated, you're certainly correct that he was fiscally responsible. Where we disagree, is that Loomis, et al had better reasons for wanting David out, and every one of them were sinister, with no merit.

Loomis---Too insecure because David is so much more intelligent than he, and Loomis saw him as a threat to his domination.

Carter---Nothing other than total vindictiveness.

Kunisch--- Doing the dirty work for his cop buddies that wanted David removed, and not being able to think for himself so he relies on Loomis for direction.

Abbott--- Some vindictiveness, plus a lot of gullibility, buying into the innuendos & lies.

We note that Loomis quoted the average income in Oro Valley as being 90K a year. That is not the same as is quoted in the Pima County Chamber of Commerce annual publication available at the Oro Valley library. The AZ STAR gave a very lesser amount as well.

Where does Loomis get his facts?

Did Loomis see the protestors and signs outside the El Conquistador at his "State of the Town address"?

Why is Loomis using such an expensive location for this address?

Obviously Loomis has expectations of "deep pockets" and grandeur for his expenditures to come.

Did anybody tell Loomis this country and the global economy is in a massive recession?

Time to replace Loomis!!

I just noticed on the left hand column of the home page that there are candidate statements by Mike Zinkin and Zev Cywan. I often forget to read that column so I'm mentioning it here in case others forget to check that section, too.

Zev's comment about how the current (and past) councils tend to act first and then pretend to listen reminded me of what happened the night they removed Dave Andrews. First they tried to vote on it without even listening to the people who came to speak, then they voted on it 1 millisecond after the last person spoke. It was clear that they had already made their decision and they were just "pretending to listen" to the people.

I will pretend to listen to them during their campaign and then I will pretend to vote for them in May!

Ferlin....You mean all three or four people? And on that same subject one would have to ask why were some of the protesters in disguise? Are they ashamed to carry a sign? The one that I recognized tells lies all over town so why be ashamed to carry a sign???

Very strange.

Cox once again speaks with arrogance stupidity & ignorance.

Kathy Pastryk, Geri Ottoboni & Michelle Saxer were only too happy to identify themselves and were dressed in black to mourn what Loomis & his three "friends" did to David & our community.

These three courageous women made enough of a statement.

Were they trying to hid so as not to be identified and did they have to be forced to be seen by KOLD TV?

More worthless gibberish from Cox.

Ok, here we go a-protesting:

Sign - Check
Sensible Shoes - Check
Water Bottle - Check
Disguise - Check

All the better NOT to be recognized by any police union goons. - Check

Hey maybe Loomis' loony list will become a badge of honor someday. Like Nixon and his list.

Thanks,Art,for putting OVOT in his place once again. If only he'd stay there! His Glibness is tiresome to say the least. It was the MESSAGES that we wished to convey; our identities were not important, and yes, we wanted to project the spirit of mourning over the audacious "hit job" on DA that shamed and saddened many in Oro Valley. I wonder if OVOT remembers even ONE of what our six posters said. Probably not.

I find it interesting what OV thinker stated. Does he think what those "four Stooges" did to one of the best City Managers in the State of Arizona was right? If so that tells me a great deal about OV thinker. He apparently does not get his facts straight. Or perhaps he is not able to read the Newspaper. If these brave woman were trying to hide their idenity, then why would they allow themselves to be quoted in the Arizona Red Star, It appears to me they were trying to put out the MESSAGE and were not concerned about the Messenger. These women were not trying to distract from the signs. What the signs stated, I believe was more important than the idenity of the individuals holding them. The numbers of the individuals again were not important, again only the message. As I understand it, the decision to do this was only a few hours before the event, so no time to contact large amount of agreeable citizens. One of the volunteers stated that many of the attendees who drove by gave them ,"thumbs up" and waved in approval. Even some police. I would think that perhaps in the future there might be a similar statement, but this time with a much larger number of individuals since, it appears they received a great deal of positive response of citizens who wanted to know when, where, and how they could help in the future.

Travelling Dancer,

Great! Another demonstration is a terrific idea!

For those of us who work and could not attend, nor even make the 10:30am start as a "lunch break" this will be a very opportune time to show LACK how the people feel about their decisions. We, the people, need to take back our basic Constitutional rights and be heard.

OVOT,

While you want to make light of only three stalwart ladies, you may need to factor in how far and wide their message spread.
How do you factor in the KOLD TV coverage and ink they got in the newspapers? What's your best guess about how many Tucsonans watch the 6pm news? If the Explorer's circulation is 40,000, how many times that is the circulation of the AZ Star 250,000-400,000 perhaps? And how many listeners does Chris DeSimone's radio show have?

Controlling their effects may keep you working a very long time.

Native Spirit,
Good observation. Perhaps due to the media coverage, that is why these ladies have received sooo much support against what is happening in this town. Apparently Bud Foster, a veteran newscaster, cosidered these three woman picketing newsworthy. More reaction than the Mayor's speech. Probably the only thing about the Mayor's speech, was the comment that a property tax and utility tax was needed, which I believe is a direct result of the dismissal of Mr. Andrews. Even with their strange attire they sure looked better on TV than the Mayor.
