Introducing Mike Zinkin, A Candidate For the People Of Oro Valley

We are extremely pleased and proud to announce that Mike Zinkin will run for Oro Valley MAYOR in the March 2010 election.

Why are we so enthusiastic about Mike? There are many reasons. His background as an Air Traffic Controller proves Mike can work and make decisions under stress. His years as serving on the Development Review Board, including that of chairperson has given Mike the insight one needs as it concerns our General Plan, our Town Codes, and our ordinances.

Having had the opportunity of meeting Mike and discussing the issues that we as citizens find important, Mike is on "the right side " on every issue.

What is the "right side." Let's discuss just a few.

Mike will not raid our Contingency Fund to balance the budget, as was just done. Mike will not allow any special interest group, within or outside of town government, determine what is best for the majority of the people of Oro Valley. Mike will exhibit fiscal responsibility and understand our revenue MUST exceed our expenditures. Mike will NOT impose more taxes on our over-taxed citizens. Perhaps, most important, Mike will bring one important attribute to the Town Council----COMMON SENSE.

Shortly, Mike Zinkin will publicly announce his candidacy. In the interim, he has allowed us to let our readers know of his intentions. Mike & I both ask that you consider him as being worthy of your vote.

Oro Valley needs Mike Zinkin!

It may be a good idea to hold off on endorsements until the field of candidates can be carefully reviewed.

Deacon--- Your point is well taken, but based on Mike Zinkin's background, his knowledge of town codes, The General Plan, and, as I noted, his positions that he enunciated to me directly, I can assure you and all our residents, a vote for Mike will be good for Oro Valley.

Please keep in mind, in 2007 against the threat of potential legal action by the town of Oro Valley, we endorsed Salette Latas & Bill Garner for the 2008 election. The vast majority of the citizens agreed with our assessment, as Salette & Bill won the election in a landslide during the primary----a first for Oro Valley.

They have certainly proved their worthiness of our support during their time in office.

One last point. Our Town Attorney, Tobin Rosen was not yet employed by OV at the time in 2007. Had he been, the action taken against us would not have occurred.

Art,

A new Mayor and three new council members are needed.

I suggest you post a list of questions for potential candidates to answer.

Allow the bloggers to review the questions and answers and ask questions of their own.

Deacon---- Better than that, I am hopeful we will get candidates that come with no baggage. "No baggage" to me means no Special Interest endorsements from the likes of the police, the Chamber of Commerce, the developers, etc.

There are those that think I'm a special interest person, and they'd be right.

My "Special Interest" are the overwhelming majority of the people of Oro Valley that believe in the same thing I believe in.

To be specific---that means supporting what Bill Garner, Barry Gillaspie & Salette Latas stand for.

We have already added Mike Zinkin to this list.

If there are those individuals out there that meet this criteria, I hope they'd contact me.

Oro Valley needs them!

Art,

I appreciate all the hard work you do to keep this blog updated.

Many of the bloggers have shown a keen insight to complex issues. I don't always agree with some of them although I continue to be impressed with the thought process.
The contributors to this blog watch the issues and how the local government handles them.

I would like to see Q & A posted for anyone who visits this site to read.

Allow the bloggers to decide if they think interested candidates earn their vote.

I am new to your blog, what other qualifications does Mr. Zinkin have for town council? I agree with Deacon that a Q & A would be helpful when all the candidates have been announced.

That's what we need.....another air traffic controller. Maybe Mike also wants to have the Oro Valley Animal Control Department & Shelter.

Art...I hate to pop your ego bubble, but most people on earth don't believe in the same things you believe in, e.g. lying.
