Well, at least there will be one candidate for Oro Valley Mayor. Dr. Satish Hiremath formally announced his candidacy.
Would anyone be too surprised if Mayor Paul Loomis doesn't "throw his hat in the ring" for another four year term?

OK--here's my first take.
I don't think that Loomis will run again. He only sought a third term because he wanted to head off a run by either Paula Abbott or Kathy Young Wright. He didn't turn in his papers until the last minute.
He enjoys respect in the region and the state for working cooperatively with other jurisdictions. That may not translate into support "at home."
b-b, care to comment on Mr. Hiresmath's candidacy? If you should decline, I can appreciate that.
BB-
You mean NANCY Young Wright?
I do not know Dr. Hiremath nor his ideas about what he would like implemented if he were elected Mayor. However, I am concerned about the group formerly known as GOVAC, which he was associated with. GOVAC lacked fiscal responsibility and continually requested additional funding for their financial follies. I would like to hear Dr. Hiremath's explanation for these miscalculations.
Correct, Nancy Young Wright--my mistake.
No opinion, yet, Zev. I'm gonna wait and see who the challengers might be. The Mayor has had some health issues, so he may choose not to run again for those reasons.
Bloggers--has KC Carter passed his "sell-by" date?
I was a big fan of Carter (and Abbott) until recently. Their voting record over the past few months has left me baffled. Lately, their votes appear to be in retaliation for other votes they disagreed with (eg. budget issues pertaining to the OVPD and other town employees). If things are as they appear to be, well, it's just childish and not in the best interest of the town.
Does Mr. Hiremath have a web site or platform we can review?
BB....He recently had a pacemaker put in so I imagine that he got a renewal.
That's still one of my favorite lines. :-)
You know he has talked in the past about running for Mayor.
D
Dr. Hiremath contacted me a couple weeks ago, and asked if we could get together.
Prior to meeting Satish, I only knew that he was a local dentist and up until very recently, President of GOVAC, (now SAACA--Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance)
We had a very cordial meeting and I asked Satish many questions in an attempt to gain some insight as to his views on most pressing OV issues, as well as his opinion on the present council members and various well known personalities in our community.
I'll let our readers determine whether or not Dr. Satish would make a good mayor.
I will only say, his idea of who he considers the best of the seven member council, is my #7 choice.
I definitely expect Mayor Loomis to run again. I would be surprised if he didn't. Dr. Hiremath appears to be a nice person from what little exposure I have had, but my concern is the way GOVAC was administered. I also agree with Victorian Cowgirl, many individual that I have spoken with are confused about the way KC Carter and Paula Abbott has been voting.......Strange.
TD....Here is my take on the KC/PA votes.
They have a relatively close alliance. Paula isn't running again so she doesn't care if her vote PO her "base" so she is more loyal to KC than the "base". Latas and Garner were elected in part because of KC's support. They have screwed him on a couple of issues. KC now strongly dislikes those two. Paula supports KC.
It's simple.
From the picture that has been painted, has OV become one of the "Survivor" reality TV program series? Seems like it.
"SURVIVOR, ORO VALLEY"...... LOL
It would be a great series if all of the players were developers. LOL
Isn't it great that Cox knows everything there is to know about KC, Paula, Bill, Salette, and surely, his good buddy, Al Kunisch.
With the inside scope as to all the goings on, we are all now really enlightened.
Cox is like a field reporter, telling all about KC's recent medical procedure, and his status.
The only thing he has yet to report is whether his pal, Loomis will run again.
Stay tuned. We can expect Cox to give us the inside scope, even before Loomis knows.
Art...you are just jealous!!
LOVE!!
here we go again.
ps. Kathy Young was a one hit wonder girl singer. circa 1960 (?)
"its just like heaven
being here with you"
It don't think Nancy Young can sing.
