Both the Jan 28 Explorer and AZ Star have additional details concerning the Jan 21 action of the Oro Valley Council that voted 6-1 (Mayor Loomis) to stop payments to all recipients of Economic Development Agreement funds.
The action was precipitated by the recent unanimous ruling by the Appeals Court in Phoenix in the. Turkin vs. Gordon lawsuit brought by the Goldwater Institute. The decision basically noted that a subsidy to one entity not available to others is a violation of the Arizona Constitution Gift Clause.
