Conley Wolfswinkel Being Investigated For Another Questionable Land Deal

Conley Wolfswinkel, the convicted felon who is well known in Oro Valley for his shady deals in the Rancho Vistoso community, is once again under investigation.

This time it's a deal involving his old friend, Maricpa County Supervisor, Don Stapley.

As reported in The East Valley Tribune, a search warrant was issued allowing deputies the power to examine all business records, computers and electronic data of the Wolfswinkel-related companies. It allows the investigators to attempt to restore data that might have been deleted from company computers to uncover evidence "which tends to establish that the crime of bribery and/or fraudulent schemes, has been committed."

Named in the warrant are Conley Wolfswinkel, his sons Ashton and Brandon, and business associate Kevin Petersen.

Quite some time ago, I wrote on this site a posting I designated as "The Ties That Bind". Included in it I progressed the attachments between Vistoso Partners, the Wolfswinkels, and VESTAR. Much of this information is now readily available on the internet within sites deemed as responsible. As a side note, if the name Wolfswinkel is typed in the 'name' search in the Pima County tax records, Jason Wolfswinkel's name comes up as a land owner AND as a 'proprietor' of Stone Canyon, LLC.

Whatever this family and/or others like it come up with as legal excuses and/or technicalities, their philanthropic claims (tax adjusting factors), or whatever, the fact remains that they all have their claws embedded in our lives right here in Oro Valley, and, to me, it stinks of being a 'duck'!

Damn! Where's Sarah Palin when we really need her? She could come to Oro Valley and give speeches connecting Vestar to Wolfswinkel and how they pal around together which proves that Vestar is dangerous. And this time she'd have a valid point.

I wonder if OV voters had known about the Vestar-Wolfswinkel connection from the beginning if they still would have voted to approve the tax-sharing agreement.

Vistoso Partners at one time controlled OV in my opinion,If I recall Rancho Vistoso , Wolfswinkel, etc had ties to the Keating scandel
When I moved to Ov, I searched all this on the internet and was amazed at all the questionable connections,
Tucson Weekly had plenty of archived info, think most of it is gone
Most people around here have no idea who Wolfswinkel is, do they care? I don't know, did the town of OV care, obviously not. I did
In order for Wolfswinkel to do what he supposedly did, he needed a partner or two to dance with.; Takes two to tango
I am also wondering if there is any connection at all between the Wolfswinkel family and Arroyo Grande

For those interested in reading more about Wolfswinkel and his shady deals such as projects that include the Stone Canyon golf community in Oro Valley and nine centers totaling 8 million square feet being built with retail developer Vestar, you can read this Aug. 26, 2007 AZ Republic article titled---"Wolfswinkel: Land. Money. Power."

VC, I doubt that the voters of OV, with the information accessible and available at that time reasonably could have had enough information to sway them against the Vestar 'project'. The constituency of Oro Valley were given a highly polished scam job which promoted the project and the voters, thinking they would match SNottsdale and/or La Encantada, et al, lapped it up like a pack of thirsty animals. The 'Ties That Bind' were not as well published as they are today.

Mscoyote, Rancho Vistoso was and apparantly is Conley Wolfswinkel. Prior to his check kiting/fraud conviction by the federal government, He owned all 6000+ acres of it. Subsequently the federal government, under the Resolution Trust Company banner, took control over the property. Without going into a bunch of details, after Wolfswinkel filed bankruptcy, one of his 'subject' companies (those that he had formed with his 'underground' involvement) purchased Rancho Vistoso for about 30 cents on the dollar. It is 'assumed'thatMr.Wolfswinkel put together the group (along with several others) known as Vistoso Partners in order to further his 'dream'. Did this circumstance have much to do with many of the forces that led to much of that which is Oro Valley today? Probably! As to Arroyo Grande, I doubt that it, at least currently, has any involvement with the Wolfswinkel/Vistoso Partners/ Vestar web other than perhaps that said 'web' might have some kind of lobby to advocate certain 'stipulations' as to how the property is finally use designated. Remember, Arroyo Grande is State Trust Land, OWNED by the State, and, at present, 'managed' by a trustee appointed by our former Governor who I doubt would have been involved in the type of chicanery within which the 'web' seems to involve itself.
